Bailleul-sur-Thérain walks

Discover two contrasting natural environments: the dry limestone grasslands covering the hill of Mont César and the marshes below. A varied route through the forest, poplar groves and fields.

The Hez-Froidmont forest was created in 1869 by combining the Hez (1,413 ha) and Froidmont (259 ha) state forests with the Saint-Lucien, Saint-Thibault and La Verrière reserves, which were originally owned by the church. Covering a single area of 2,796 hectares (with the exception of the Belle Fille valley, which is 100 metres away from the forest and represents a small 10-hectare canton), it stretches 9 kilometres from east to west and 6 kilometres from north to south.

Tenth stage of the Grand Tour of Île-de-France via the GR®11, connecting the Cires-lès-Mello railway station to the Chantilly-Gouvieux railway station, around the River Oise and two of its tributaries, the Thérain and the Nonette. The built heritage here is remarkable, between the abbey church of Saint-Leu d'Esserent and, of course, the town and estate of Chantilly.

An easy hike through fields, allowing you to discover the pretty village of Foulangues with its stone houses, small church and the Pavillon du Tillet, a half-timbered house.

A beautiful hike with wooded areas, plains, quarries where stones were extracted for the construction of Notre-Dame de Paris, many ponds, two wash houses, two chapels, the church of Saint-Vaast, the Rivière le Théroin (a tributary of the Oise), and the Flandre stream.

This is a beautiful walk at the entrance to the Oise, in the valleys between Anserville and Fosseuse. The walk takes you through fields and woods. The region is surprising in this area, with its gently sloping hills and succession of small woods and fields. It offers a variety of very pleasant views.

A lovely walk through pastures, hedgerow paths and forests of many different species, including some beautiful large trees, some of which are certainly centuries old. It is also an opportunity to pass through two beautiful villages with pretty half-timbered houses, often brightly coloured and with flower-filled gardens.

The ninth stage, entirely in the Oise department, of the Grand Tour of Île-de-France on the GR®11, between the stations of Bornel-Belle-Église in the Esches Valley and Cires-lès-Mello in the Thérain Valley. It consists of a crossing of the Pays de Thelle, from west to east, in the south of the department, and always through magnificent varied landscapes, between woods and fields.

Most of the hike takes place on flat ground and in woodland, with a long stretch along the edge of lakes. It offers beautiful views of the Picardy countryside and the Oise valley. Passing through Précy-sur-Oise, Blaincourt-lès-Précy, Saint-Leu-d'Esserent and Villers-sous-Saint-Leu, you can discover some of the region's heritage gems.

A 10-kilometre loop to be done on foot starting from Parc Chantemesse in Chambly. There are no major difficulties and the section along the river is very pleasant.

A hike for all tastes, passing by Rue des Troglodytes, the ponds and the banks of the Oise.

This is a very pleasant walk through a varied forest, often along the edge between fields and woods. You will discover superb panoramic views of the Vexin region. Crossing Chavençon, a small village lost in the countryside, is a very enjoyable experience.

A very bucolic walk in the heights of the French Vexin, passing close to the highest point in the Ile-de-France region. A beautiful forest to cross until you reach the house that was once inhabited by Sarah Bernhardt. Return through the fields across a beautiful landscape at the edge of Picardy.

A beautiful route through the Lys Forest, past beautiful residences and the hamlet of Baillon, to Royaumont Abbey and back via a farm track.

A circular starting from Hédouville takes you through Hodan, Messelan and Frouville.

A very pleasant walk that begins along the surrounding wall of a castle beautifully set in its grounds. The walk takes you through the hamlet of Héréville with its beautiful houses and charming tranquillity. Although the route ends on a road, it is very quiet and the narrowness of the road forces cars to drive at a speed that makes them very tolerable.

This lovely walk takes you to a Neolithic menhir called the Pierre Frite, then to a small, well-preserved castle set in lush green surroundings. Beautiful rolling landscapes can be enjoyed throughout this hike.

A circular route alternating between tarmac roads, dirt tracks and forest paths, which takes you around the Bois de la Tour du Lay from Champagne-sur-Oise and offers views of the Oise valley. Along the way, you will pass a Neolithic polishing stone. The Bois de la Tour du Lay is classified as a departmental forest and bears the name of an old parish. This area is classified as a natural zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF).

A shaded and easy hike through the woods and around Chantilly Castle, passing through the small villages of Courteuil and Avilly-Saint-Léonard with some points of interest such as the Table d'Apremont and, of course, the pleasure of seeing Chantilly Castle, its Grandes Écuries and its racecourse

Located mainly in the Oise Valley, this hike crosses the Bois de la Coharde forest at the end of the route. It allows you to discover a troglodyte village in Gouvieux and offers beautiful views of the Oise, Chantilly, Saint-Leu-d'Esserent and Saint-Maximin.

This route is mainly through woodland, allowing you to explore the woods and golf courses around Chantilly and offering beautiful views of the Château de Chantilly estate.

Chantilly is the largest racehorse training centre in Europe. The forest is criss-crossed by numerous galloping tracks that are usable all year round thanks to the quality of the sand. During this walk, you can appreciate the importance of this activity in the forest itself and in the plain bordering its northern edge. Beautiful views of the château, the Grandes Écuries and the Canal Saint-Jean add to the charm of the circuit.

The hike starts at Royaumont Abbey and takes you through a mainly rural area, dominated by forests and farms, with numerous horse breeding establishments. The hilly landscape offers beautiful views of the Carnelle forest and the Oise valley. Passing through several villages gives you a glimpse of their rich heritage.

Loop starting from Baillon (municipality of Asnières sur Oise), near Royaumont Abbey along the Nouvelle Thève through the Bois de Baillon.

A varied hike through woods and fields with two beautiful churches in Bréançon and Le Heaulme. Lovely views over vast fields of green wheat, dotted here and there with red poppies. It's a shame there's a bit too much road.

A circular walk starting from the Château de la Reine Blanche and the Étangs de Comelles in the Chantilly Forest, passing through Mongresin (Orry-la-Ville) and the barn of the former Comelle Abbey . The Château de la Reine Blanche and the Étangs de Comelles are among the most remarkable sites in the Chantilly Forest.

Walk starting from Chars SNCF station passing the Château de Saint-Cyr-sur-Chars. On the way back to Chars there is a narrow pedestrian passage that starts with a staircase.

A pleasant and varied hike in the heart of the French Vexin. The route begins with a circular route north of Chars, between fields, meadows and small woods. After the beautiful church of Chars, there are alternating ascents and descents on the slopes of the south bank of the Viosne. The church and old mill in Brignancourt are a heritage stop before heading up the right bank of the Viosne along the edge of a wetland.

This is the eighth stage of the Grand Tour de l'Île-de-France on the GR®11, starting from Chars station in the Val d'Oise and heading towards Bornel-Belle-Église station in the Oise, through the north-eastern part of the French Vexin and the borders of the Pays de Thelle. This stage is unique in that it runs along the border between the Val d'Oise and Oise departments, with roughly 50% of the route on each side. The proposed itinerary passes through the Buttes de Rosne, the highest natural point in Île-de-France, although it deviates slightly from the GR® for this.

A beautiful walk in the forest where you can see some remarkable trees and several boundary stones bearing coats of arms along the paths, bearing witness to the history of the Chantilly Forest. The walk also takes in the Fontaine d'Orry and the surroundings of Pontarmé Castle.

This hike around the Commelles ponds and the town of Lamorlaye begins south of the Chantilly Forest. It then crosses the residential area of Le Lys, continues through the Coye Forest and ends on the botanical trail along the ponds. Beautiful views of the Château de la Reine Blanche and the pine and oak forests await you along the route.

A very pleasant hike in a forest area consisting mainly of coppice woodland, which is ideal for game. Encounters with large animals such as wild boar, roe deer, does and stags are therefore quite frequent. Don't hesitate to take your camera with you.
