From Cires-lès-Mello to Chantilly via Saint-Leu d'Esserent

Tenth stage of the Grand Tour of Île-de-France via the GR®11, connecting the Cires-lès-Mello railway station to the Chantilly-Gouvieux railway station, around the River Oise and two of its tributaries, the Thérain and the Nonette. The built heritage here is remarkable, between the abbey church of Saint-Leu d'Esserent and, of course, the town and estate of Chantilly.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: Grand tour de l'Île-de-France par le GR®11

(8) Turn right and, after No. 14, turn left to walk alongside the church and its gardens on your left. Go down Ruelle du Mouton. At the end, follow Rue Jean Moulin to the right and pass a triangular crossroads on your right.

(9) Cross the D92 at the traffic lights and continue straight ahead into Rue Pasteur. Turn left onto this street and cross the railway line at the level crossing. Continue along Rue de l'Hôtel Dieu (D44) and straight on to the bridge over the Oise.

(10) Cross the bridge over the river. On the other side, immediately go down the steps on the left. You will come out onto Rue du Pont Saint-Leu; follow this road to the left. Continue along a path that turns right, then left, and then runs alongside a pond. At the end (quarry on the left), turn right.

(11) At the traffic lights, cross Route de Saint-Leu and immediately take a path on the left that runs parallel to it (Rue Guy Cauville). Continue along the tarmac road and, when the street turns right, turn left. Cross the residential district of La Poterne.

(14) Join Rue Jean Jaurès and follow it to the right. Take the bridge over the railway line. Shortly afterwards, turn left onto a path. You will rejoin the tarmac road at the foot of Saint-Maximim Church.

(15) First turn left then right onto Rue de l'Abbé Jules Martin.

(16) Take the first left, Rue du Jeu d'Arc, and pass in front of the entrance to Château Civet. At the end of the street, go around the roundabout on the left and take a tree-lined lane heading south-east. At the end, turn left towards La Grande Folie.
