Starting point: Chantilly-Gouvieux station.
(S/E) Take Rue des Otages opposite the station, then cross Avenue du Maréchal Joffre to continue the route to the right along the tree-lined side road. Cross the roundabout via the pedestrian crossing, take the wide forest road on the left leading to the Poteau du Puits, then turn left onto the Route des Postes until you reach the Rond-Point de Diane. Continue to the right along the path running alongside the road to reach the Rond-Point des Lions, where you can enjoy a view of Chantilly Castle.
(1) Cross the departmental road and head towards the château car park. Take the path through the hedge on the right just before the car park entrance gate. Turn left then right to join the track that starts at the corner of the wall (near theGR® gate) and runs alongside the pond and the Maison de Sylvie. At the junction at elevation 54, veer slightly to the left, almost directly opposite, and continue straight on. When you reach Porte Vaillant, cross the junction to take the street, Chemin de la Porte du Rond. Cross the next junction and take Allée des Ormes opposite.
(2) Follow the Allée des Ormes, which is used as a training track for racehorses (until 1 pm). The path is sandy in places. Continue straight on to the cemetery and turn left onto Rue de la Green Cross, towards the church at Avilly-Saint-Léonard (to reach Senlis, see the Senlis alternative route). To continue the route towards Chantilly, turn left, then leave the village by turning right to head for Courteuil. Cross the Nonnette bridge and walk straight through the village.
(4) Cross the D924 to continue the route along the path through the fields. Take the first left, before the bridge under the old railway line, then carry on straight ahead. When you reach the road, turn left, then immediately right to pass in front of the old station. At the bus stop, turn right then immediately left to take the Promenade d’Egmont through the woodland behind the gate (before the end of the Promenade d’Egmont, you can take a short detour to the left to enjoy a remarkable view of Chantilly Castle).
(5) Back on the route, the Promenade d’Egmont leads onto a road, Avenue de la Gare. Turn left and then immediately right in front of the old small station (sign for the Chantilly cycle route) and continue along Rue Jeanne d’Arc. Turn left onto Place de la Plaine in Mahieux, follow Rue Poissonnière to the left, then take the second right onto Rue de la République. Turn left onto Place Joyale, then right onto Rue de Saint-Leu. When you reach Place Charollais, take the second street on the right as you head uphill – Rue de Saint-Leu – then continue along the path behind the gate, heading towards Chantilly.
(6) When you reach the Porte de Saint-Leu, cross the D44 and continue down the tree-lined lane on the left. Follow the lane downhill until you cross the Grand Canal.
(7) Carry on and cross the Canal Saint-Jean.
(8) Carry on until you reach the Pavillon de Manse (on the left). Turn left onto Rue des Waterfalls, then take the second right onto Avenue de Condé.
(9) Carry on straight ahead at the traffic lights and, at the end of Avenue de Condé, head across to the grassy area opposite. Take the path on the right which crosses the lawn and then through the Bois Bourillon. Cross Avenue du Maréchal Joffre and rejoin Rue des Otages, which links the woods to Chantilly station (S/E).
