This is a beautiful circuit in the Val d'Aran, through the Vaqueira mountains to Naut and Baish de Bacivèr Lakes.Although it's a short loop, it requires an established fitness level to climb the first half of the route. The effort will be rewarded by the arrival at Lac Naut de Bacivèr, the highest point of the hike.
Saboredo Refuge - Mallafré Refuge
Third and penultimate stage of this loop in the Encantats. Still lots of beautiful lakes and magnificent jagged peaks silhouetted against the sky. Significant elevation gain and sometimes tricky paths with steep slopes, scree and sections with ropes, which fortunately were already in place.
Léziou and Bégé waterfalls
A pleasant walk with no difficult sections or steep slopes. It follows a track suitable for vehicles (GR® T57) and offers views of two magnificent waterfalls as it runs alongside a stream in the first section.

Route around Estany de Sant-Maurici in Les Encantats
Head towards the Espot Valley, one of the main valleys to the east of the Aigüestortes National Park and Lake Sant Maurici. After passing the small town of Espot and the Riu Gelat campsite, head up the valley where the Rio Escrita flows to reach the end of the road and a large free car park. Lake Sant Maurici is only 3.5 km from the car park. It takes about an hour's leisurely walk through a beautiful forest. You can then climb up to the Renata waterfall, then to the Amitges refuge, and head towards Col de Port de Retara.
Amitges - Colomina
Long stage between Amitges and Colomina: splendid views of the ridges and valley, crossing summer pastures and forests. Passing by the Estany Llong refuge. The gentle but long descent leads to the Colomina refuge, a peaceful haven after this beautiful day in the mountains.
The Cirque d'Anglade and the Saubé Hut
This hike offers a variety of landscapes, with woods giving way to mountain pastures as you climb higher, and the beautiful Cirque d'Anglade site to discover.Visorando app recommended.
Estany di Sant Maurici towards Amitges Refuge
Magnificent hiking in the Aigüestortes y Estani de Sant Maurici National Park. You'll come across numerous mountain lakes that are unique to this park.
Mallafré refuge - La Molina car park
Fourth and final stage of this loop in the Encantats. No technical difficulties except for the length of the descent once you have passed the first pass. Magnificent view of the Encantats in the morning as you leave the refuge.
The seven lakes of Colomèrs circular
The Colomèrs lake circuit is a massif of mountains arranged in a circle, protecting some fifty lakes ("estanhs") in its bosom. The slow erosion of frost during the Ice Ages has left an inescapable landscape: a high mountain area with high, steep peaks of around 3,000m, such as Creu de Colomèrs, Gran Tuc de Colomèrs and Tuc de Ratera.
Étangs Rond and Long loop via the Ribérot and Peyralade valleys
A pretty loop in the Couserans valleys, leading to the Rond and Long lakes, overlooked by the iconic peaks of the massif, Mont Valier and Pic des Trois Comtes. The route often runs close to the water and is dotted with beautiful waterfalls, guaranteeing a change of scenery.
Mont Valier from Pla de la Lau
This demanding hike takes you to the "Seigneur du Couserans".
L'Estours and L'Artigue
A round-trip route dominated by water, in the cool valley of the Estours and Artigue streams.
Tuc du Coucou
A steep climb rewarded by a 360° panorama of the Couserans and Biros peaks.
The Decauville Tunnels in the Orle Valley
An unusual hike along an old mining railway line with tunnel crossings.
Tuc or Pic de Maubermé
The highest point in the Val d'Aran and Couserans, Maubermé is often overlooked in favour of Mont Valier. However, unlike Valier, the path climbs steadily and pleasantly to Port d'Urets (and its small hut where you can spend the night), then becomes a little steeper to reach the summit, which may prove a little difficult for those who are not used to it.
The Bentaillou Mines from Eylie
Combine mountain hiking with discovering industrial heritage. This valley has a significant mining heritage, and the succession of reminders of this during the climb, dotted with ruins and twisted, rusty scrap metal, evokes the past importance of the heart of our mountain range.
