Léziou and Bégé waterfalls

A pleasant walk with no difficult sections or steep slopes. It follows a track suitable for vehicles (GR® T57) and offers views of two magnificent waterfalls as it runs alongside a stream in the first section.

Description of the walk

After Couflens, pass Salau and follow the D3 to the second hairpin bend. There is a small car park on either side of the road. Please note: vehicles must be allowed free access to this road.

(S/E) Take the time to read the information panels recounting the history of this route linking France and Spain in the 19th century. Follow the wide road.

(1) After 400 metres, you will come to the Neuf Fontaines with a magnificent beech tree. Continue along the path.

(2) You will see signs for the Léziou Waterfall and hear it in the distance. Follow the small path on the left that leads to the foot of the waterfall.
Retrace your steps and take the path on the left to its terminus. The slope on this section is slightly steeper.

(3) At the end of the path, you will arrive at a vast grassy area crossed by numerous small streams. A sign indicates the access to the Bégé waterfall, which can be reached by taking a path on the left.

(4) There is a beautiful view of the waterfall. This is an ideal spot to have a bite to eat before heading back to the car park where you started (S/E).

A pleasant family hike.
Great during hot weather because the stream and waterfalls are refreshing!
Personally, my golden retriever really enjoyed it!
In August, it gets very busy...

A very beautiful walk, with two stunning waterfalls.
The end of the hike, between the stream and grassy plain with panoramic views of the waterfalls, is really worth the effort.
There are no difficulties along the route, except for crossing the stream at the end to have a picnic in the middle of the "valley".

Very easy walk. The two waterfalls were very abundant at the end of May. The flora is also interesting.

Very beautiful hike, as described, very pleasant up to the Léziou waterfall, which was very crowded when we arrived. The last part of the trail to reach the Bégé waterfall was difficult because it was in full sun and we were in the middle of a heatwave. When we arrived, there was very little water flowing in the waterfall, but overall it was a very beautiful hike. The only downside was the parking at the start. There is also the option of starting from the village just before, but that makes the walk longer.

A nice little hike. Pretty easy. Most of it is on a forest path.
We did the hike in fog, which was a shame for the scenery. Fortunately, we had a few minutes' respite just in time to admire the beautiful "cirque" and waterfall at the end.
It makes you want to go further towards Port de Salau for a more challenging hike.
Caution: off the trail, you can see a pretty bridge crossing the stream (very close to the starting point): do not be tempted to walk on it as it is very slippery!
