Description of the walk

Park at the end of the tarmac road above Couflens, near the Rouzé d’en Bas stopover lodge.

(S/E) Take the track downhill to the junction with theGR® 10 (marked in white and red). A sign indicatesGR® 10 Col de la Serre du Cot 2 h.

(1) Turn left onto a well-marked path, following this sign. The path climbs quite steeply through woodland.

(2) Pass the path marked with a white and red cross on your left and continue to follow theGR® 10 trail. After a few hairpin bends, the path passes close to several barns and crosses the hamlet of Couret Mauri. Continue straight on, following the red and white markings.

(3) Carry on to the right, leave the forest and reach the Col de la Serre du Cot and its signpost.

(4) Leave the GR® 10 and follow a gently ascending path to the left which crosses the south-western flank of the Tuc de Peyre Mensongère

(5) Leave the track and head south-east towards the very broad summit.

(6) Summit of the Tuc de Peyre Mensongère. Enjoy the panoramic views.

The return journey follows the same route back to the car park (S/E).

a short round trip hike in gloomy weather. I will do it again to enjoy the scenery from the pass or the summit, and for the descent I will then switch to the Ustou valley with a car transfer

A lovely walk with a view of Mont Valier all the way!
It’s a steep climb right from the start, and the descent was very slippery, so walking poles were essential!
At the Col du Cot, the panoramic view is magnificent!
There’s a mountain hut to the right of the pass for anyone who’s interested.

A lovely walk, with a significant climb right from the start – take your time at the beginning; otherwise, there are no particular difficulties. Enjoy your walk.
