Côtes-d'Armor walks

Bréhat, an island known for its flowers; it has its own micro-climate that favours the growth of amazing, abundant and exotic flora. Bréhat is 3.5 km long and 1.5 km across at its widest point and consists in fact of two islands attached by a single stone bridge. Its proximity to the mainland, 15 minutes by boat, makes it a major destination for a day trip for walkers.

This beautiful route starts from the beach at Erquy, first taking in the narrow streets of the village and then the quiet lanes, before leading back to the sea at the end of the Anse des Sables d'Or. After that, it runs along the coast, from beach to beach, taking us back to the port, crossing the moor and skirting the rocks. From the top of the cliffs or at wave level, this trail offers breathtaking and varied views of this magnificent coastline.

An emblematic site in the Côtes d'Armor region, the Pink Granite Coast stretches roughly from Trébeurden to Paimpol. This hike in Ploumanac'h offers a chance to discover part of it. Winding through the "chaos" and following the Douaniers trail and the GR®34, you'll discover one of Brittany's most magnificent landscapes, shaped by majestic pink granite rocks of all shapes and sizes. There are only three places like it in the world: Brittany, Corsica and China.

An easy coastal walk. A short return trip toward the center of the island leads to a viewpoint and a superb covered walkway.

This hike can be split into two parts: a 9 km loop to the north-west, which includes Bonaparte Beach, and a second 6.5 km loop to the south, which offers views of Pointe de Plouha. Both loops follow theGR®34coastal path and include some ascents and descents that may be difficult for inexperienced hikers.

Hike along the coastal path and inland at Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer with magnificent landscapes. If the tide is low, discover the Pointe du Chevet with its islets.

After a few kilometres through the Plévenon countryside, you will come to the sea with Saint-Brieuc Bay on your left and Cap Fréhel on your right. Once you have passed Cap Fréhel and Fort la Latte, you will discover Saint Malo Bay and Fresnaye Bay. Gorse, heather and oak trees of various species line the coastal part of the path. Stop for a moment at Cap Fréhel to discover the colonies of birds nesting on the rocks.

Located between the beautiful white sandy beaches of Trégastel and the "chaos" of Ploumanach, this short hike explores the Pink Granite Coast going around Renote Island. Among the majestic pink granite rocks and vegetation you will discover beautiful landscapes sculpted by erosion.

This circuit takes you almost all the way around the commune of Trégastel. Trégastel is the second commune that, together with neighbouring Perros-Guirec, forms the pink granite coast. From the start to the (5), the route follows theGR®34and therefore the customs officers' path, known here as the coastal path, with a short detour around Île Renote. Special feature: as it runs along the coast, the circuit has very little elevation gain.

The Bay of La Fresnaye is one of the most beautiful sites on the Emerald Coast. Sheltered from the prevailing winds, a balcony path winds its way through sparse groves of ash, pine and flowering gorse on the slopes of the small cliffs on the western shore of the bay. The hike starts at the small hidden beach of Château Serein, follows this balcony trail offering beautiful views of the bay, passes through the tiny port of Saint-Géran and ends at the tip of Fort La Latte.

Loguivy de la Mer is a fishing village once renowned for blue lobster fishing. This loop will take you from the tranquil Gouern Bay to the peaceful and famous Launay Bay, known as "Sorbonne beach", to the Pointe de l'Arcouest, the landing stage for the island of Bréhat. You will enjoy splendid panoramic views of the Bréhat Archipelago.

The Pointe de Plougrescant is recognised around the world due to Castel-Meur: the house between the rocks. The hike starts at Saint-Gonery Chapel, equally famous for its crooked lead bell tower. The hike continues via the Baie de l'Enfer where you can admire the Jaudy estuary, then on to Pointe du Château - the most northerly point of this route - to see Castel Meur (private property) and finally to discover the gulf before returning to the departure point along the west coast of the point.

Historically dedicated to Marc Faucon (a pioneer of hiking in the Côtes d'Armor), this hike will allow nature lovers to explore the foothills of the Gouët and the wooded hills of the surrounding countryside.

Between the communes of Penvénan and Trévou Tréguignec, the circuit takes you from Port Blanc to Plage du Royau, where you'll discover a beautiful coastline and local history.

Hike to the Pointe de Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, its harbour and the seaside town.

Ploumanac'h, "France's favourite village in 2015", is a small touristic harbour linking up with Perros-Guirec. It's the city of pink granite, as visitors can discover in the sculpture park (being redeveloped in 2016). The "sentier des douaniers" (GR®34), the "Tertre de la Clarté", the small sandy beaches of "La Bastille" and "Saint-Guirec" with its oratory and chapel, and the chaos of granite heaps are the main sights.

Discover a magical estuary and hike in the valley from the mouth of the river to the coast. Its name, "ar" "gwen" "on" (or the white river), comes from the fact that at high tide, its bed fills with a mysterious natural foam caused by the mixing of fresh and salt water at its mouth: nature in all its diversity.

A protected site, the Bay of Saint-Brieuc can be explored via a coastal path, theGR®34, which offers opportunities to observe a wide variety of birds and discover the Gouessant Valley (very steep-sided) and a large number of beautiful cuts in the loess and silt from the Quaternary period. The route can only be done on foot. Hiking is not recommended from May to September! See practical information.

The Pointe du Chevet tour is easy to do and offers two types of coastline. On the west side: a wild coastline opening onto the Baie de l'Arguenon and the Hébihens archipelago that extends beyond it. On the east side: the Bay of Lancieux: the polders and small ports of La Houlle Causseul and Le Châtelet. The coastline of Saint-Jacut-de-le-Mer is bordered by 11 beaches, which you can discover by straying from the suggested route, which follows theGR® 34 to (8).

Take a short loop around Bon Repos Abbey by following the towpath of the Nantes-Brest canal to the Bellevue lock. The hike continues on theGR®34trail, which runs along the shores of Lake Guerlédan before venturing into the countryside and returning to the abbey.

This route takes you on a tour of the different faces of the Plougrescant coastline, with a variety of landscapes. The islands of Loaven and Er, which punctuate the Jaudy estuary, are the scene of major oyster-farming activity at low tide. At high tide, the islands are popular for water sports, especially kayaking.Then there's the rugged coastline of the northern tip, where raw nature and moorland take on their full character.

A beautiful hike, much of it taking place along the seafront corniche. Along the way, you can add a visit to a Gallo-Roman site and take a refreshing dip!

Along with the pink granite chaos, the Vallée des Traouïéro is the region's second most popular tourist site. It consists of two steep-sided valleys through which the Kérougant river winds its way before separating and joining the natural harbour of Ploumanac'h. This stream forms the natural boundary between the municipalities of Perros-Guirec and Trégastel. The Petit-Traouïero flows into the Ploumanac'h ice mill (Milin Ru), while the Grand-Traouïero flows into the Trégastel wheat mill (Milin Glaz).

This hike was completed and written during the summer of 2015, an exceptional period when the lake was drained for dam maintenance.We invite hikers to do this walk in spring, when the colours and scents are at their best, with the clear waters of the lake as a backdrop. Since 2024, major work has been underway between points 3 and 4 with a view to building a free Himalayan footbridge for crossing the Blavet, which cuts the complete tour of the lake in two. This will still be possible for the most experienced walkers. (See note in "Practical information".

Start with an urban walk to discover La Clarté and part of Perros-Guirec, then continue along the Pink Granite Coast via the Chemin des Douaniers and finish at Ploumanac'h, voted "France's favourite village" in 2015.

A magnificent walk through a pine forest. After following the Trieux river and passing through a tunnel through the hill, we walk alongside the Trieux tourist railway line to admire the chimneys of the Château de la Roche Jagu in the distance and reach the Saint-Jean Chapel. Don't be alarmed by the sound of gunshots: there is a clay pigeon shooting range nearby.

A long walk from port to port around Ploubazlanec, the bustle of Paimpol harbour, the peaceful tranquillity of Loguivy, the departure for Bréhat from the Arcouest pier and the oyster beds at Porz Even.

Wind your way along the banks of the Rance, stopping off at the Abbaye Sainte-Magloire-de-Léhon to visit the fortified heights and historic heart of Dinan.

An easy route to discover the ruins of a mill, enhanced by magnificent views of the sea and the cliffs of Cap Fréhel.

Loop along part of the Trieux river towards the sea and back through the countryside.

A sea and land circuit on the wild peninsula, to discover the mouth of the Jaudy and the oldest granite rocks in France, at Port-Béni (1.7 billion years old). Always check the tide times.

The western part of Saint-Brieuc Bay on the Goëlo coast is known for its cliffs, which are among the highest in Brittany at Plouha (104 m). This coastline begins at Pointe de Plouézec and continues to Pointe de Minard.This loop allows you to walk along theGR®® 34 between these two impressive points, then continues through the valley of the Porz Donan stream and on to the small Saint-Riom chapel. A very beautiful hike starting and ending in Evran (22), discovering the landscapes of romantic Brittany with its valleys, winding canal and locks.

This walk takes you along beautiful sunken paths lined with embankment walls to the heights of Beauport Abbey, where you can discover the deciduous and coniferous woods that dominate the site. You then descend towards the abbey, which you can see from the reed bed accessible via a walkway on stilts. You then reach Cruckin Island via the dyke and salt meadows. From there, you have a superb view of Guilben Point, Saint-Riom Island and the Mez Goëlo Islands.

Close to a natural curiosity that must be seen at high tide, known as the "Sillon de Talbert", this journey allows you to discover the history of seaweed with the CEVA (Centre for the Study and Promotion of Seaweed), enjoy the results of the work of shellfish farmers (oyster and mussel farmers) and learn how artichokes are obtained. This walk between sea and land, with no difficult terrain, can be enjoyed by all ages.

This hike will allow you to discover the flora and fauna of the Rance estuary. The Rance is a wintering ground for migratory birds. Mordreuc's mascot, seal L 214, will let you take photos with him if the water level allows him to lounge on the slipway. Otherwise, look in the water to see if a whiskered snout is peeking out. In Mordreuc, if you continue 100 metres along the shore, you will discover the old lime kiln.

A stroll through the Pludual countryside: chapels, woods, fields, orchards, wash houses, fountains, etc. There is variety everywhere.

This short hike allows you to discover the southern part of Fresnaye Bay with its colours and lighting changing with the tides, the Moulin de la Mer site, the village of Saint-Germain de la Mer, and views of Fort La Latte.

This circular route straddles the municipalities of Plérin and Pordic. The route follows the coastal path between Tournemine Beach and Pointe de Bréhin, offering beautiful views of Rosaires Beach and the port of Binic. The return journey is inland, mainly through valley bottoms.

The hike takes place largely along the coast, offering numerous and varied views. The second part of the hike crosses a beautiful bocage landscape.

If you take this hike, even during the tourist season, you will encounter few people as it follows the island's shoreline as closely as possible. However, you will see all the island's must-see sights: Guerzido Beach, Paon Lighthouse, Saint-Michel Chapel, Birlot Mill, the Fort... This hike should be done with the help of a GPS or the Visorando app, which is the price you pay for getting off the beaten track. If necessary, there will always be a helpful sign to guide you back to the harbour.

This is an easy hike. Running along the shore, it offers breathtaking views of Beauport and Paimpol bays.

From the small port of Trébeurden, set off to explore Le Castel and Île Milliau with its covered walkway, then continue along the beach and admire the panoramic view from Pointe de Bihit.

Lorsque l'on pense "Mégalithes" en Bretagne, c'est à Carnac et ses alignements que l'on pense en premier. Mais il faut savoir que partout en Bretagne il en existe une multitude. Le Trégor est riche de ces monuments datant de plusieurs millénaires. Au cours de cette randonnée, vous en verrez certains mais vous découvrirez aussi une superbe île aux paysages variant suivant la situation aux vents.

A very beautiful hike along the cliffs of Trédrez-Locquémeau with varied landscapes (moors, cliffs, hedgerows and reed beds) and magnificent views of Grève Saint-Michel.

The route follows the shady banks of the lake, small gravel roads and a few quiet stretches of road. It will take you through villages with old houses, many of which have been beautifully restored. To finish your walk, you can explore the streets and alleys of the village along the river, where the wash houses have been restored.

There are exceptional panoramic views along this section of theGR®34long-distance hiking trail, with the Anse de Paimpol, the panorama stretching from Beauport Abbey in the west to Paimpol and Ploubazlanec to Île de Bréhat, Roc'h du Chenel du Dénau, Grand Mez and Petit Mez de Goëlo, ending at Pointe de Plouézec in the east. To the south is Pointe de Minard, which marks the entrance to the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.

From Tréguier, the town of Ernest Renan and capital of Trégor with its Saint-Yves Cathedral, come and stroll along the Guindy. You will then discover the small Kélomad Chapel, rebuilt in the early 19th century, and walk along the old Nord-Trégor railway line.
