Pointe and site of Dourven near Locquemeau

The GR®34 leads to the Dourven site, which has unfortunately been partially disfigured since Storm Ciaran in November 2023, but still retains its charm for its views. The coastal path passes near Saint-Quiriou or Kirio Beach and its fountain. The rest of the route follows small roads to the village of Locquémeau and its beautiful church.

Please note: GR® diversion, see here.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park opposite the Keravilin campsite.

GR®34 Marked in white and red

(S/E) With your back to the car park, climb the Corniche de Notigou on the safe strip on the left, pass the access to Notigou Beach (you can go down and back) and continue overlooking the sea until you reach a fork.

(1) Leave the road, turn left into a dead end (signpost) and, at the end, continue along the coastal path until you reach the sign indicating the detour (see link in the introduction).

(2) Climb steeply up the new path through an area of ferns and continue to the Pointe de Dourven car park.

Off the marked trail

Leave the GR® detour, turn left towards the back of the car park and join the entrance to the Dourven site.

(3) Descend the beautiful pine-lined avenue, which was unfortunately partially destroyed by Storm Ciaran in November 2023. Leave the contemporary art gallery on your right and follow the path on the left that leads to the Pointe (rocks and viewpoint). Climb up to the right, make a small detour to see the old guardhouse, then climb back up towards the exit of the site (exhibitions can be visited). Continue to a small stone staircase on the left. Climb these steps and you will quickly rejoin the GR®34.

GR®34 marked in white and red

Descend the winding path between the ferns, following the new GR® markings, and at the bottom, rejoin the original coastal path. Continue to the right and arrive at the entrance to Saint-Quiriou or Kirio beach.

(4) Go down to the left via fairly steep wooden steps to discover a discreet fountain and continue to the beach, which offers a view of the mouth of the Léguer. Go back up to the right via the other, easier access point. Continue left along the coastal path that goes around a property, ar Montagne, and arrive at a fork (direction signs).

There are no real markings or old, barely visible ones

(5) Leave the GR®34 and climb up to the right into a wooded area. Pass a wide staircase made of logs and continue along this path which joins a road coming from Lann Gerwenn. Follow it to the right, coming out onto a new road (Hent Lann Kerralig), which you follow to the right until you reach a fork.

(6) At the junction, turn left (Hent ar Vilin Awel). Turn left towards an antenna. At this point, leave the road and take a path that initially heads south. Continue along this farm track, passing a field on your right where you will see the Lianver menhir, and continue until you reach a road.

(7) Turn right, drive past the Lianver farm (market in summer), pass Rosmeur and continue to the road (Hent Krec'h ar Venno).

(8) Cross it to reach the safe passage and follow it to the left until you see the sign for Pointe du Dourven.

(9) Turn left and head towards the imposing church of Locquemeau. Continue along a road downhill, in the wrong direction, pass a discreet, poorly maintained fountain and arrive opposite the sports hall.

(10) Turn right onto the path that runs alongside the sports hall and a sports park. Continue along the Ruisseau de Coat Trédrez, which borders a campsite. Pass the Trédrez residential home, cross a footbridge and you will come to the road. Follow it to the right to return to the car park (S/E).

At one point, the path is blocked due to bad weather, but there is only one possible route to avoid this section of the trail. After climbing back up into the woods, you can either continue along the path or take the GR trail. Only the path leads to the Pointe de Dourven.
