The signposted Gernsbach Legends Trail (Genießerpfad) runs mainly over natural terrain and, despite a few inclines, can be comfortably walked in 1.5 to 2 hours of pure walking time over a distance of 5.3 km. It is characterised by its many narrow, sometimes almost alpine paths, which link the individual stops together. However, this means the trail is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users; sturdy footwear is definitely recommended. The signposted circular route begins at the Klingel Chapel (Schlossstraße, Klingelstraße, about 1 kilometre towards Obertsrot) and connects seven stops around the Gernsberg. The route is consistently signposted with the ‘little devil’ symbol. Parking is available at the Gernsbach Spa Gardens on Igelbachstraße. As a so-called ‘Genießerpfad’, the Gernsbach Legends Trail has been awarded the premium seal of approval by the German Hiking Institute.

Thanks to its unique panoramic views, stretching from the snow-capped Swiss Alps across the Rhine Valley to the Vosges, the Belchen is considered the most beautiful mountain in the Black Forest for its views. The fascinating distant vistas along the Belchensteig offer a hiking experience in a class of its own. Along the premium hiking trail, there are plenty of places to sit and rest whilst enjoying fantastic views. We’ll take plenty of time to savour the hiking experience.

The circular route around the Belchen summit is one of a total of nine themed trails and also the shortest of them all. The Belchen, at 1,414 metres, is famous for its unique panoramic view. But its summit has even more to offer – many rare animals and plants along the way are a testament to the Alps. The view down into the Rhine Valley and the Wiesental tells of mighty natural phenomena.

This premium hiking trail through the Rohrhardsberg Nature Reserve offers everything that makes the Black Forest so special. From lush pastures and meadows to woods and moors, a waterfall and, time and again, stunning views. Cuckoo clocks in all shapes and colours adorn the woods and make for a truly special hiking experience!

This charming pair of chickens will also accompany you on the approximately 14-kilometre-long “Rooster and Hen Trail” through the holiday landscape of the Central Black Forest, Gengenbach and Harmersbach Valley.
