The walk starts at the Belchenhaus at the cable car’s mountain station
(S/E) The ‘Belchen’ discovery trail, which is around one kilometre long, starts at the Belchenhaus and initially leads slightly uphill to the left
(1) After a bend to the right, we reach the summit cross. Here we enjoy the view from the most beautiful peak in the Black Forest. Our gaze sweeps across the Wiesental valley, over to the Feldberg and to the largest city in the Black Forest – Freiburg im Breisgau. Beyond that, we can see the Rhine Valley, neighbouring Alsace and the snow-capped Swiss Alps to the south. We could linger here for hours.
(2) From the summit of the Belchen, we now continue along the circular route, which gradually descends. At the first junction, we turn right.
(S/E) After about half an hour’s walking time, we finally reach the Belchenhaus again.
The views along the entire route are breathtaking. I really enjoyed this authentic hike. I’d highly recommend it. It’s suitable for everyone. The path is wide and easy to walk on. I spent an hour at the summit to really take in the views and the surroundings, because even if I do go back one day, I don’t know when that will be.
