(S) From Freiburg, the route climbs steadily uphill to the start of the Schauinsland. The climb winds its way up to the Schauinsland Pass road with a few hairpin bends. If you drive up the climb without encountering a cyclist, you are either travelling in the middle of the night or in really bad weather. The gradient is moderate. It is a little steeper at the beginning and flattens out towards the end (E).
