Tixover walks

This Rutland walk follows a clockwise route around the Hambleton Peninsula created in 1976 when the reservoir initially opened. The route uses concessionary paths for much of the way. Views across the Reservoir can be enjoyed throughout.

This walk includes three counties and starts from the attractive village of Lyddington in Rutland before continuing through pleasant countryside in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The route includes the villages of Stockerston, Great Easton, Rockingham and Gretton. The walk also includes a section of the Jurassic Way.

Lovely walk from The Bertie Arms in Uffington to Burghley House, returning via the river Welland.

Great walk around Ferry Medows in Nene Park. Lots of wildlife to see.

This walk starts and finishes at Northcutt's Garden Centre (PE2 5UU) which has an excellent restaurant. It encompasses walking around Overton and Gunwade lakes nearly all on hard footpaths.

This walk starts and finishes at The Horseshoe public house, excellent food. Lovely countryside walk on footpaths, minor roads and short stretch on A15.

This lengthy Leicestershire walk visits the rolling landscape to the south-east of Tugby to reach the village of Hallaton. The route turns west following the Leicestershire Round footpath to Glooston from where a return to the starts is made through Noseley and Rolleston. The walk follows generally well-marked paths and bridleways.

This short walk is full of interesting views of lakes with bird-watching hides in the Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve. Also view along River Welland. There are no facilities at this location but several options in nearby Crowland, Deeping St. James and Market Deeping.

Enjoy the open views over farmland in East Northamptonshire and view parts of RAF Molesworth (from a distance).

A linear Leicestershire walk which uses paths and bridleways to explore the countryside to the south and east of the Billesdon. Return to the start can be made using Centrebus route 747 which has a regular service between Skeffington and Billesdon.

This circular walk to the east of Leicester follows a section of the Leicestershire Round. The walk visits the villages of Somerby, Thorpe Satchville, Owston and, of course, Twyford.

A 9km walk, starting and finishing at the Geese and Fountain.

Easy walk on dykes and roads with the opportunity to see birdlife such as Swans, Cormorants, Grebes and Egret. Tulip Queen good eating place normal carvery etc. suggest booking if large party.

This walk is about 5.5 miles long, starting and ending at the village of Hoby. There are fine views across the undulating Leicestershire countryside from the elevated ground near Ragdale Hall. The route and footpaths are well maintained with visible waymarkers and only a few stiles. Most paths are across crop or pasture fields but note some fields may contain bullocks depending on the time of year.

This easy short walk along the Coronation Channel has many water birds to observe, Crested Grebe, Ducks, Swans, Herons sometimes Cormorants. Springfields is a major shopping outlet has all the facilities, coffee shops and lovely gardens to take a short break. Coronation Channel was created in 1953 following major flooding of Spalding following heavy rains rising River Welland coupled with a very high tide, so this relief channel was dug.

This Leicestershire walk starts from the attractive village of Rearsby and explores the countryside and villages lying to the east. The route also includes a section of the Leicestershire Round.

This is a nice walk on quiet roads and Randall Bank path following dyke, It starts and finishes at good pub "The Jolly Farmer "PE12 0XQ".

Short walk starting at car park pay station near Café Nero. Minor road to follow River Welland exiting on minor road to Wykeham and return to Springfields Outlet Shopping complex.

This short walk starts and ends at Birchgrove Garden Centre on the B1356 at (PE11 3XY). The route to Surfleet church is on quiet country roads. The return is mainly following the river Glen along the Macmillan Way, finally returning back via urban road.

This short walk soon gets into countryside and splendid views. Also lot to be seen when following river Glen.

Walk from Grafham Water Visitor Centre to Over, visiting Brampton, Godmanchester, Houghton, Hemingford Abbots, Hemingford Grey and St. Ives.

This walk uses quiet country lanes with open vistas across agricultural fields to arrive at river glen by Surfleet Bank and the sea lock. Follows Macmillan Way through golf course and delightful river Glen. passing under the A16 and continues along river to crosses over river to return to village hall.

A Lincolnshire walk that explores the parkland and surroundings of Culverthorpe Hall using some of the many local footpaths and also some of the "Stepping Out" paths set up by North Kesteven District Council.

This walk is useful when fields are waterlogged, mainly on quiet lanes. When we did this walk in autumn the sunflowers were spectacular.

Nice walk for when it is poor underfoot. Starting at great pub "Riverside Hotel", following River Glen by Spalding Golf course, crossing river at the lock to sea. Returns down quiet lanes to Surfleet.

My favourite ramble which begins and ends at St Denys Church, Cold Ashby. This is a proper ramble with both hard and soft surfaces and good views from Honey Hill.

A circular walk from Houghton to St Ives using the Ouse Valley Way. A simple and easy riverside walk following the course of the River Ouse. The walk uses the Ouse Valley Way to St Ives, returning via the picturesque Hemingford villages, full of thatched cottages and world charm. There's plenty of pubs, there's river locks, there's the iconic mill at Houghton which makes this a well worthwhile wander. Make a whole day of it and take in the sights and sounds and, of course, the quintessential English pubs.

A pub crawl to the Huntingdonshire pub known as The King of the Belgians. The unique pub name of The King of the Belgians is not the only reason to search out this hostelry. It has an excellent range of ales, offers good food, provides good company and has an intriguing history with regard to its names. This walk uses the road from Houghton so it is an easy stroll with other pubs along the route.

This is an interesting, varied, countryside circular walk, taking you through three historic villages and ending at a lovely traditional pub.

A nice, short walk across the countryside in Long Bennington just off the A1.

A walk along the Ouse Valley Way from St Neots to Houghton. A perfect river side walk following the gentle flowing River Ouse as it meanders past nature reserves to Godmanchester. From here there is easy access into Huntingdon or across the meadows to Houghton and its infamous mill. A perfect way to enjoy a summers day.

A lovely walk starting in the market town of Bingham, Nottinghamshire. Leading into the quiet countryside with mosty well-kept paths to Car Colston, where you can have a well-deserved refreshing drink in a dog friendly pub, before heading back to Bingham.
