The Horseshoe Thurlby, Bourne, Lincolnshire circular

Start: The Horseshoe Public House, Bourne Grid ref. TF 103 166

(S/E) Leaving The Horseshoe car park, turn right to a road junction. Turn right into Church Street.

(1) At St Firmin’s Church turn right (Southward) into the graveyard and proceed on the right boundary, this footpath (approximately 2 kilometres) follows a ditch on your right. When approaching Kate's Bridge Farm keep to the right barn.

(2) As you exit from behind the barn turn right and follow the driveway which is a (Permissive Way) to the A15. Turn left along A15 (take care busy road) until just before the bridge, and WM3.

(3) Turn right away from the A15 and follow the obvious footpath. At the farmhouse go past on the left and follow the driveway. Cross over the road and follow Obthorpe Lane. After 1/2 a kilometre look for the footpath sign on the right.

(4) Cross over style and walk diagonally to the left aiming for the stile, after going over style continue in the same direction eventually reaching the bridge to cross the ditch. Turn slightly left to follow with the hedge on your left cross over one more stile and continue until passing the old barn and driveway to the road.

(5) At the road turn right crossing over and onto pavement and continue for about 800 metres to the crossroad with A15 and The Horseshoe is at this junction. (S/E)

On this wall in early July wild flowers were resplendent, also several hares were seen on the footpath after leaving A15.
