Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac walks

A very pleasant hike, starting in the shade of hazelnut and ash trees. Then, on the Roman road, you will encounter the beautiful Aubrac cows (in season) with superb views of the Lot valley. Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac is a stop on the Way of St James and its bridge is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the title "Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France".

Through the forest, discover an ancient wolf pit and the Devèz waterfall. You'll then pass through a mountain pasture with a view towards Rodez.

Burons are an integral part of the architectural heritage of the Aubrac. These small stone houses were once used by farmers to watch over their cows and produce cheese during the summer. Although they are part of the landscape and soul of the Aubrac, today nearlytwo-thirds of them are disappearing due to lack of use. Let's give them back the interest they deserve by walking alongside them! This hike will take you from buron to buron, through magnificent landscapes and unusual discoveries. A hike mainly through forest, offering access to two superb viewpoints over the vast Aubrac plateau.

From the village of Cayrol, on the edge of the Aubrac plateau, this hike takes us back to the deep gorges of a boralde where the Cistercian Abbey of Bonneval nestles in a solitary and peaceful spot conducive to contemplation.

A loop trail through Aubrac cow pastures, passing by an oratory offering a sweeping view, then by a magnificent castle straight out of a fairy tale.

In Verlac, three circularPR®1,PR®2andPR®3loops all pass through Aurelle and follow the same route up to that point. These three hikes will dazzle you in spring with the extremely rich flora of the Aubrac meadows and in autumn with the combinations of brown, yellow and orange in its forests.

A circular in the heights of the Ruisseau de la Nuech valley, crossing summer pastures and some undergrowth, a short visit to the centre of Laguiole, and finally, a short loop along the Ruisseau du Vayssaire and an arboretum, to discover the beautiful Cascade de l'Oule waterfall.GRP®® or Visorando app useful on one section

A contrasting hike through lush meadows and rich farmland on the plain or along the slopes, once covered with vineyards, with the medieval town of Saint-Côme-d'Olt in sight.

From the village of Lassouts, you can look out over the rugged, wooded slopes of the Lot valley, with some truly exceptional views.

This hike follows the Way of St James to the village of Aubrac, crossing fields and offering superb views of the surrounding area. Depending on the season, you may encounter numerous cows, flowers everywhere, or even snow and fog. In any case, this trail has something magical about it.After Aubrac, the route leaves the GR®65 to join the GR®6 and then the GR®670, passing through woodland, meadows with or without cows, and an old Roman road.

This is the third stage of a four-stage circuit in Aubrac. You will follow most of the GR®65 (Chemin de Compostelle) in the opposite direction. A slight detour from the GR®65 is recommended so that you can admire the Cascade du Déroc waterfall.

This last stage of the Tour de l'Aubrac, shared with theGR®®65Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle à l'envers, once again showcases the vast wilderness of the Aubrac plateau. In the last third of the stage, which is a little more shaded, you can admire the imposing granite bell tower of the Church of La Chaze-de-Peyre and the Chapel of La Bastide.

Take a very old path from the village of Flaujac, clinging to the slopes of the Boralde, and climb up to the plateau through woods and terraces.

Come and discover the magnificent Aubrac plateau from Saint-Urcize, classified as a "petite cité de caractère" (small town of character), with its granite houses and beautiful Romanesque church. You're sure to enjoy this varied hike: you'll walk high up in the summer pastures, then descend to the paths of the Saint-Urcize forest and finish by following the Hère river, which will reveal its waterfalls.Avoid this hike in very hot weather!

Second stage of a four-day tour through the Aubrac countryside, between the Refuge des Rajas and Nasbinals via Aubrac. On this stage, you will mainly use the GRP® Tour des Monts d'Aubrac and part of the Way of St James in the opposite direction (GR®65).

Starting from the church square in Soulages-Bonneval in Rouergue, this is a short hike on the Aubrac plateau. 15/05/2024: Walk modified to 7 to follow the lake shore.
