Boralde Valley in Condom

In Condom-d'Aubrac, park in front of the church.

(S/E) Walk past the town hall and follow the path on the left. Cross the street and continue on the path opposite.

(1) At the intersection of paths with a small cross, turn right. Join a road and follow it to the left for about a hundred metres.

(2) Turn onto the path on the left, further on, follow the path around a right-hand bend, ignoring a very grassy path on the left. You will come to an intersection with a path at the entrance to a meadow.

(3) Start of the round trip to Lasbros. Continue straight ahead towards the viewpoint, indicated by a wooden sign. You will come to a road in Lasbros. Follow it to the right, then shortly afterwards make your first turn left then right and continue uphill through the hamlet on a grassy path. You will come to a road. Walk uphill for a few metres until you reach an iron cross. View of the Boralde de Condom valley, your next destination.

(4) Retrace your steps to the intersection at the entrance to the meadow.

(3) Follow the path to the left of the gate.

(5) Cross the road at an old stone cross, continue straight ahead, arrive at the road leading to a farm and follow it to the left. Join the D900 and follow it carefully to the right for about 160 metres.

(6) Take a wide path on the right and follow it downhill, ignoring the few side paths.

(7) At the hairpin bend to the right, the path narrows and gradually becomes grassy. At an open area, ignore the^PR®®5path that branches off to the right and stay on the left. Continue for about 60 m, then look out for a very grassy path that descends sharply to the left.

Unmarked

(8) Follow it for a round trip to the ruins of the Moulin de Salelles. The path is not maintained, it is blocked by a few fallen branches, then it narrows into a path overgrown with vegetation. It is passable, but be careful. When you reach the ruins, descend a few more metres to reach the edge of the Boralde de Condom.

(9) Retrace your steps.

(8) Continue along the path on the left for about 50 metres until you reach a fork in the road.

No markings

(10) For a round trip to an old bridge over the Boralde, turn left. This path is very passable and leads to an ideal spot for a break.

(10) Continue left along the path. Ford a few streams.

(12) Much further on, leave the undergrowth and climb up between the meadows. Ignore two paths leading off to the right.

(13) Cross a road, continue on the path opposite and you will soon reach another road at the entrance to La Poujade. Take a few steps to the left and immediately take the path on the right. You will come to a tarmac road and shortly afterwards take a path on the left. You will reach the intersection at the start of the circular loop, with the small cross.

(1) Retrace your steps along the outward route to return to Condom church (S/E).

Moderately difficult hike, standard hiking equipment required. GPS or Visorando app useful between (8) and (9).

(11) Ideal spot for a break or picnic.

The Boraldes de l'Aubrac are a group of small tributaries on the right bank of the Lot that descend from the Aubrac plateau on its south-western slope (Aveyron side). These are fairly short (10 to 30 km), fast-flowing rivers, as most of them descend a slope of about 1,000 m between their source and their confluence with the Lot, and flow parallel to each other.
