Description of the walk

In Saint-Rémy de Bédène, park in the car park at the picnic area in the centre of the village. Map of the "Le Château du Bousquet" hike.

Yellow signposts

(S/E) Follow the street that leads to the town hall, pass it, then follow the road to the right.

(1) At the crossroads of four streets, with a picnic table, turn right, then continue along the path, which soon passes through a long tunnel of greenery made up of holly bushes. Join a path.

(2) Follow it to the left for about 50 metres, then turn right onto the path.

Off the marked trail

(3) At the intersection of paths, for a round trip, turn right. At the fork in the paths, keep right on a crossroads that leads to the top of a hill, to an oratory supporting a large statue of the Virgin Mary. Vast panorama.

(4) Retrace your steps to the intersection of paths.

Yellow signposting

(3) Continue straight ahead. After about 150 m, at the two meadow entrances, turn right.

(5) Ignore a path on the right and then, shortly after, keep to the right, ignoring a grassy path straight ahead.

(6) Cross the Ruisseau de Maganiou (the path passes over a culvert). Further on, pass a farm gate and arrive at a road at a place called Lindières.

(7) Follow the road to the left for about 50 metres, then keep left at the fork and pass in front of a beautiful house. Continue along the path.

(8) At the intersection, follow the path to the left. Then ignore a path on the right.

(9) Cross the Ruisseau de Maganiou stream via a footbridge. Further on, join Rue du Bousquet (picnic table). Follow it to the right, then immediately take a grassy path that climbs up to the left and leads to the church (picnic table). Go around it on the left and you will arrive at the rear of the castle (picnic area).

(10) Go around the castle on the right (or left, or both!) for numerous viewpoints. You will come out on the main street at the entrance to the estate. Follow the road to the left to leave the village and continue until you reach a path on the left (before reaching the cemetery).

(11) Follow this beautiful path, ignoring a path on the left that is not shown on the map. Further up, you will reach a place called Pinsonnac.

(12) Follow the road straight ahead and, at the fork shortly after, keep right. After about 50 metres, take the path on the left.

(13) At the intersection of paths, turn left. Further on, you will reach the intersection of the loop.

(1) Take the same route back to the car park.

(S/E) Head towards the church and walk around it, admiring the beautiful church and presbytery, then return to the car park (S/E).

Thank you to the author of this very pleasant, easy hike, with a superb view from the Oratoire de Montpeyroux. It's a shame that it's not possible to visit the castle or the park, as this detracts a little from the charm of this outing.
Nevertheless, it is still clearly visible from the street, which is some consolation...
The route is easy to follow, with a few muddy patches following the previous days' showers, but it remains very passable with suitable hiking boots.

A lovely, fairly varied and easy walk, but best avoided in wet weather or after rain as it can be very muddy in places. Very rural surroundings with beautiful views of the Aubrac countryside and a pretty castle (closed indefinitely) at the end of the walk. Follow the yellow line.
