Via Beauregard and the cutlery workshops from Laguiole

The route starts at Place du Foirail, at the foot of the famous Laguiole bull (large car park, often full in summer).

(S/E) From the bull, head towards the post office. Opposite it, turn right. At the end of the Foirail, take the street on the left, then immediately the small street that goes down to the left. At the end of the street, you’ll find yourself opposite the retirement home.

(1) Return trip to the Cascade des Oules. Opposite, a path skirting the care home is signposted ‘Cascade des Oules’. Follow it between the two rows of trees. Cross the stream and follow the path uphill for about fifty metres before taking a track on the left towards the waterfall (signposted ‘Cascade’). The track follows the stream and leads to the foot of the waterfall.

(2) Turn back to the previous junction.

(1) Take the road on the left and walk past the care home. Follow this road to the hairpin bend on the left.

(3) Cross the road to take the one opposite, towards Soulages. At the next junction, go straight on towards Soulages, D541. The road leaves Laguiole and descends towards the stream and the Moulin du Bouyssou. Cross the stream, pass the Oustrac buildings and head back up to the first junction.

(4) Turn right onto the D138 towards Alcorn for a few metres, then take the first path on the right. Note: the first path on the right leading to Beauregard (marker 994) on the map no longer exists. Follow the main path, keeping to the right at the junction.

(5) Take the small road leading down to the right, then, after about a hundred metres, take the first track on the left. Follow this track as it descends through the trees to the bottom, down to the stream.

(6) Turn right, cross the stream and follow the path up to the right towards the first houses of Laguiole.
At the road, take the street going uphill opposite. Pass in front of a cutler’s workshop. Continue straight on along Rue du Pont Romain, then slightly to the right onto Rue du Valat.
You’ll arrive opposite the tourist office. Turn left, walk past the town hall and return to the main street, Allée de l’Amicale.

(7) Continue right along Allée de l’Amicale. Turn right to reach Place du Foirail (S/E).

In snowy conditions, snowshoes may be required on the paths. The path to the waterfall may be icy.

In Laguiole, there are many cutlers’ shops and cheese shops to visit.
