L'Escale walks

La Colette and Le Petit Ruth from L’Escale: a circular route featuring ridge sections and a 360° view. The ascents and descents are often steep.

A very easy, flat walk around Lake L'Escale. You may spot many birds, so bring your binoculars! Although the road is often nearby, the path is always separate from the carriageway.

An easy route that combines the "Au fil de l'eau" heritage trail created by the Château-Arnoux Heritage Association with an exploration of the flora and fauna of the banks of the middle Durance.

A lovely, not too long walk with beautiful views of the Durance and Bléone valleys.

The upper trail offers a completely different view from the valley. The Pénitents show their heads and draperies, which is almost more surprising than from below! And then there is a lovely view of the nearby Durance valley. The trail is easy, but there is often a drop on at least one side. Take care with children.

This is a short loop, suitable for horse riding, which follows part of the Trail des Cathelières de Mallemoisson route. There is a quick alternative route to climb up to Vieil Aiglun and then return to the loop.

A lovely walk in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence with a stop at the Saint-Joseph Chapel and beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

This marked trail leads to the ruins of an abandoned village. From the site of the old castle and its chapel, there is a superb view of the Bléone valley.

This route climbs above the village of Thoard.The path follows, in part, a track that is passable by 4x4s, so it is quite wide.

This short circular walk takes you to Cairn 2000 after crossing a little-used part of the Lure ridge. The climb, which is well shaded, is on the north-facing side, making it more pleasant in summer.

Circular ridge walk in the Jabron valley on the Montagne de Sumiou and on the eastern side of the Montagne de Lure. Pass through the small rock-cut chapel of Saint-Pons on the cliff face. Magnificent views on a clear day of the Écrins, the Dévoluy (Bure plateau), the Vercors and the Diois.

A short walk with lots to discover: the priory, of course, as well as an old millstone quarry and the oppidum known as Villevieille.

This hike takes you to the top of La Baume. Magnificent views of Sisteron, the surrounding valleys and the Alps. You then cross to the other side of the mountain, revealing yet another landscape. But first, you will need to pass through the Grotte du Trou de l'Argent, which adds a touch of adventure to the route. During your journey, you will also use handrails, small ladders and cross a balcony.

A short hike that's perfect for exploring Sisteron from all angles! Passing by the cemetery, you'll find a quiet little path that leads to Route de Ribier. Head back towards Sisteron, then take the Sentier du Molard trail and return via the stunning Thor plateau. Walkers with dogs will be delighted.

This hike is for those who:- want to walk 10 km at a good pace. It is a mostly flat trail, good for pacing. - are afraid of the sun and heat. It is 90% covered by dense vegetation. - enjoy peace and quiet. The area is much less frequented than the Baume mountain.This mountain is not named on maps. Here you will hike its entire length, along the north side and then along the ridge.

A varied and easy hike that combines a climb up a pretty valley, a crossing of wide plateaus, open landscapes stretching from the Montagne de Lure to the Alpine peaks, and a visit to the beautiful Priory of Ganagobie.

Lurs, a Provençal village perched on a rocky outcrop, with its shaded paved slanting streets, surrounded by a landscape of olive trees, offers an exceptional panorama of the Pre-Alps, the Durance valley, the Valensole plateau, the Montagne de Lure and the Luberon mountain range.

A circular route starting from the hamlet of Mélan takes you to the Sommet du Corbeau, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Durance valley and the Massif des Monges. The route alternates between wide tracks, open landscapes and forest passages. It is not difficult.

Hiking is not recommended between 15 February and 15 June due to nesting. A demanding hike, but one that offers splendid views, from the Durance and Buech valleys to the Pic de Bure, the Écrins, the Massif de l’Estrop, the Verdon and Lure.

In the woods of the hills of Lurs and Ganagobie with beautiful views of the Alps, the Durance and the Montagne de Lure.

The view from the summit is spectacular, with a 360° panorama where only the Monges mountains hide the Oisans. You can see south all the way to the Basse-Provence, passing by the Lure mountain, Mont Ventoux, Dévoluy with the Pic de Bure, the Blanche valley near Digne, and more. Contrast between the Mediterranean climb facing south and the colder ridge.
