Abandoned village of Lagremuse

This marked trail leads to the ruins of an abandoned village. From the site of the old castle and its chapel, there is a superb view of the Bléone valley.

Description of the walk

Car park next to the Chamrein ravine on the D12 between Le Chaffaut and Malijai, 1.5 km after Carmejane.

(S/E) After reading the information board, go through the gate and follow the red and white marked trail on the left (GR® 69 "La Routo"). This trail climbs quite steeply until it joins a track.

(1) Continue climbing to the right, following the track. After two hairpin bends, you will reach a crossroads near the abandoned village. Turn right to reach the ruins and the orientation table.

(2) After admiring the landscape and perhaps enjoying a picnic at the picnic table, turn back and continue to the right for about 50 metres until you reach a wide track marked in yellow.

(3) Follow it to the right: it will take you directly back down to the car park (S/E).

Waypoints

  1. S/E : km 0 - alt. 499 m - Car park.
  2. 1 : km 0.46 - alt. 581 m - Track junction
  3. 2 : km 1.04 - alt. 645 m - Abandoned village
  4. 3 : km 1.1 - alt. 652 m - GR°°®°°/PR°°®°° crossroads, on the right
  5. S/E : km 2.69 - alt. 499 m - Car park

Notes

This circular loop can of course be done in reverse. The slope is then easier and more even.

Hello,
A pleasant hike to a viewpoint overlooking the valley to Digne and the mountain range in the background: Magnificent!!!
One small downside: the hike is labelled "Easy" but it's quite steep at the start... Nothing difficult – no climbing – but don't take your uncle with heart problems or your cousin with poor balance.
Thanks for the app.

Very disappointed because I was expecting to walk around the ruins, but they are so overgrown with vegetation that you can hardly see anything there, and you only realise the extent of the village on the way back. So not very interesting.

An abandoned village, yet so close to the valley and easy to reach => the Alpes de Haute Provence region has really suffered from this rural exodus: Le Poil, Creisset, old Aiglun just opposite, etc.

If you continue climbing, do not take the track but the GR, which you will find as soon as you cross the barrier, keeping to the left: it offers beautiful views of the village and the valley.
As for the ruins of a chapel, which are usually found in specific locations, there is nothing to report here.

It's always moving to discover these skeletons of abandoned villages. Just like Chenerille, not far away.
Personally, I took the path in the opposite direction, as it was less steep going uphill.
The view from the top is one of the rewards.
There is an information board at the entrance to the village.
If you continue up the track, you will reach the ruins of a chapel at the bend in the road.
