On the D12 (Route du Chaffaut), park under a tree next to a post marked ‘Les Ragots Alt: 505 m’. There is plenty of space for several cars to park.
(S/E) Walk about 250 m along the road towards Le Chaffaut, ignoring a path branching off to the left.
(1) Turn right onto a path signposted “Espinouse”. It climbs gently and, on emerging from the forest, reaches a junction by a field with a large grave – an unexpected sight in this spot.
(2) Take the rutted path on the right. It is open in the middle, with a stream running a metre below. You’ll reach a wide track suitable for vehicles.
(3) Follow it to the right. After three sharp bends, ignore a path on the right and you’ll reach a Fork in the road.
(4) Turn right. The track gradually heads eastwards until you reach a junction just before a right-hand bend.
(5) Carry on to the right. Further on, go through a cattle gate in poor condition, then continue to the junction in the bend of a wide track.
(6) Follow it to the right. This is the first time you’ll have a view of the hamlet. On the tarmac road, carry on straight ahead, then turn right towards Espinouse.
(7) In the hamlet, walk straight through. The chapel has been recently restored. It is usually closed. After the last houses, turn right heading due north until you reach a Fork in the road.
(8) Keep left; the path is covered in pebbles and quite steep. Carry on straight ahead for about 300 m as the path narrows, maintaining roughly the same direction until you reach the Ravin des Ragots and its stream.
(9) Turn right towards “Les Ragots”. After about a hundred metres, turn left, cross the stream, then, on reaching the building site as you emerge from the forest, take the path on the right. It runs alongside the clearing at the building site and then leads to some wooden steps which come out onto the tarmac road. The car park is a little further on to the right (S/E).
