Park in the large car park at the Ganagobie Priory.
(S/E) Head west from the car park and walk along the cliffs to enjoy beautiful views of the Lure mountain.
You will come to an old millstone quarry. You may notice the outline of a millstone that was never extracted.
(1) Continue north to pass the Fontaine aux Oiseaux, which was once used for the quarry. Reach theGR®653Dcrossroads, which is also the Monticelli path leading down to the village of Ganagobie.
(2) Ignore this path and take the one on the right leading to the Villevieille oppidum.
(3) You will come out in front of a very long stone rampart (120 m). Go behind the ramparts to go around the oppidum. On the way back, there is a path that leads to the priory, but it is closed and reserved for monks, so you will have to return by a path close to the one you took on the way there. Return to the previous crossroads.
Alternative: head east and find a very narrow path that passes in front of some caves. From there, you can walk along the cliff, with an unobstructed view of the Durance, to arrive directly at the cross.
(2) Take the path on the left that runs parallel to the one you took on the way there. You will reach the crossroads opposite the priory.
(4) Turn left to reach the priory, then continue along the large avenue known as Forcalquier. You will reach a cross where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Durance valley, Les Mées and the Blanche valley. Note the tombs carved into the rock with a cavity for the head. Return to the priory, then to the crossroads leading to it.
(5) Retrace your steps
(4) Turn left onto theGR®653Dto return to the car park (S/E).
