Falaise (Calvados) walks

This family walk allows you to discover the town of Falaise, its castle and its ramparts. It is accessible to most people. You will discover all of the ramparts surrounding the town as well as the main gates and monuments.

Legend has it that the devil split the plateau to allow access to the church of Saint-Quentin. The Laizon gorge has become a beautiful hiking trail, passing through steep, narrow gorges to the plateaus of the Falaise plain, near the tomb of the actress Marie Joly, the former site of the iron mine, manor houses, castles and traces of prehistoric occupation. The starting point of this route will charm you with its beautiful landscapes. You will set off to explore a valley where clear, fast-flowing streams run through often wooded slopes. As you hike, you will discover unique landscapes where emotion guides your steps.

Good footing and good eyesight are required for this hike... The name Bonnoeil probably comes from "bonus" or "bonos" and "ialo", meaning "good field" or "good clearing". The rich soil is an asset in this region, where nursery growers cultivate the fertile land watered by numerous streams and rivers, along the banks of which stand old mills (only the mill in the village of Saint-Germain-Langot is still in operation).

A beautiful hike offering views of the Roches d'Oëtre, the village of La Forêt-Auvray, the banks of the Orne and the Normandy countryside. This hike is a slightly longer variation of the "Around La Forêt-Auvray" hike. You can start the hike at La Fouillerie (the option chosen for the description) or at La Forêt-Auvray.

No, it's not a mirage: those neatly aligned rows climbing up the hill are part of a 5-hectare vineyard. Les Arpents du Soleil, which was reborn in 1995, will give your hike an unusual feel and a touch of the south.

A listed site and Sensitive Natural Area in the Orne department, La Roche d'Oëtre, located in the heart of the Normandy Mountains, is a must-see site and a meeting place for lovers of wild nature and hiking.

Hike through woods, countryside, villages and rivers, from Roches d'Oëtre to Méandre de Rouvrou. From Roches d'Oëtre, follow a well-marked path that will take you through the meanders of La Rouvre.

From the banks of the cool Val la Hère stream, you will climb to the heights of Plainville and Bourg d'Ouilly, where the view is remarkable.

Circuit starting from La Pommeraie, a small authentic village in Suisse Normande, whose name comes from the word pomme (apple). In autumn, there are many chestnut trees.

This is a fairly easy hike, with beautiful panoramic views of the Orne and the surrounding countryside throughout. An iconic site in Suisse Normande, the Rochers des Parcs are also a mecca for rock climbing.

A superb walk to discover the Normandy bocage and the Orne valley. This hike takes in "le pain de sucre", "les rochers de la Houle" and "les rochers des parcs".

This is a fairly easy hike, mostly on country roads with virtually no traffic. Return via the Clécy viaduct and along the Orne. This hike can be done in the morning, with a stop for lunch at one of the open-air cafés along the Orne.

Take care when crossing the woods, as the flora and fauna here are best observed in silence, before continuing along the Oudon valley, which winds peacefully through the pastures.

An autumn or winter hike, although not very practicable after heavy rain, to enjoy the view over the plain.

This heritage trail immerses you in medieval society alongside knights, monks and peasants. In the 11th century, in the Cinglais region, Boulon was part of the powerful seigneury of RaoulI Taisson, who built the Château de Thuit there, the seat of seigneurial power. Between forest and heritage, the Boulon discovery trail reveals traces of this medieval past. This trail is marked in blue with signs reading "Heritage Trail - Boulon in the Middle Ages".

A charming walk combining forests, wooded paths, streams, mills, hamlets, beautiful stone buildings, fields and meadows, with a few small climbs. Very pleasant to do from spring, when the vegetation comes to life, until autumn, when it bursts into shades of yellow, ochre and red. Apart from the section from Le Pissot to the hamlet of Touchet (1 km), there are virtually no roads to walk on, although it is sometimes difficult to avoid them.

This walk, starting from the town hall in Fresney-le-Puceux, offers a lovely overview of the industrial and architectural heritage. After walking along the peaceful Laize, you will climb the sometimes steep slopes of the hillsides and discover the industrial past, mills and tanneries of this pretty valley.

From Thury-Harcourt to the Chapel of Saint Joseph. On these paths, you will find uphill and downhill undergrowth, theGR®36and the Chapelle Saint-Joseph.

This hike mainly follows the Coupe-Gorge stream, which runs through the Grimbosq forest. It is a very pleasant walk in autumn as it follows a small path that is rarely used by walkers.

Ouffières welcomes you to a large square beautifully decorated with flowers. You can then set off to discover magnificent stone houses before following the Orne River as it winds its way through the Swiss Normandy.

From May-sur-Orne, cross the fields, stroll through wooded areas, follow the Laize and Orne valleys and return via Saint-André-sur-Orne.
