Park in the car park of Rapilly Church, which is on the left after a fence and before the first building. The path leading to the church is for pedestrians only. There is usually a chain and a sign to indicate this, but it may not have been put back in place.
(S/E) With your back to the church, head towards the village and take thefirst road on the right, called Avenue de Détroit. At the end of this wooded path, you will see a cross. Continue straight ahead and then, at the intersection, take the tarmac road on the left towards Les Quesnets. As you walk away, admire the superb panorama of the Baize valley on your left.
(1) At the next intersection, at the entrance to the hamlet of Les Quesnets as you leave Le Hamel, La Fosse and La Houssaye, turn right (onto the D128, which is not signposted at this point). Continue for about 200 metres, then turn right at the crossroads onto the D18 towards Le Mesnil-Jacquet. Take great care as you walk along the verge, follow the road for a few dozen metres, then, still taking great care, cross the D18 to take the road that descends to the left towards Le Détroit. Continue along the road to the village of Le Détroit, stay on the Route de la Boullonnière and continue straight on to the church.
(2) After visiting the church, if you wish, turn left and enjoy the superb view over the Orne and Baize valleys. After a 1.5 km descent, you will reach a place called La Saussaye (ruins) and then the D18. Take great care as you follow the road for about 200 m until you reach the village of Le Mesnil-Villement and the Route du Viaduc.
(3) Take thefirst road on the left towards Le Hamel (Rue du Hamel). Cross the hamlet and turn left at the last house (number 240), following the route of the old Falaise-Berjou railway line. Cross the Val Corbel stream and turn right at the next intersection. During this quick descent, you will gradually hear the echo of the Baize through the foliage. At the bottom of the path, turn left onto the path that follows the contours of the river.
(4) The Baize finally comes into view. It traces a gentle curve through charming grasslands. After following it for about 2 km, leave it slowly on the left, passing through a place called La Tuilerie.
(5) At the next intersection, turn left and climb a steep hill to reach the D 128. Cross the road carefully, then, with great caution, head left towards the village of Rapilly, walking along the side of the road. Follow the Vaucelles road, then turn right onto Chemin du Puits to cross the picturesque village of Rapilly to the church and the starting point. (S/E)
