Discovering Soumont, Ouilly-le-Tesson and Saint-Quentin

Park at the car park by Soumont church.

(S/E) Take Rue de Carcassonne (D261b) for about 100 metres to No. 17.

(1) Turn left under the porch. Walk up Ruelle Piton then continue straight on until you reach Chemin d’Ouilly; follow this road to Les Hauts Vents. At the crossroads, turn left, walk straight up Rue des Biots to the war memorial, then turn right onto the D261 towards Saint-Aubin Church.

(2) At the church’s apse, turn right onto Rue des Ifs and follow it down to Place des Noyers. Turn left onto Rue des Frères Vigouroux and follow it for about fifty metres; at number 2, turn left onto Chemin des Rotours and continue to the wash house.

(3) At the wash house, take the path running alongside the farmhouse on the left. Continue along this path to the D261b, follow it to the left for a good hundred metres, then turn right towards La Brèche au Diable. In the undergrowth, ignore a path branching off to the right and continue to another junction.

(4) Follow the yellow markings to the left towards Marie Joly’s tomb and continue to the D261a.
Turn right, then right again a little further along Rue Marie Elisabeth Joly towards the tomb and the Chapelle Saint-Quentin.

(5) Before reaching it, at No. 110 on the street, take the path on the left. At the bottom of this path, turn right and walk to the bridge over the Laizon.

(6) Cross the bridge, turn right, then take the path up to the left a few dozen metres further on.
Then turn left onto a cleared path (yellow markings) and descend to the foot of the plateau. Take a path on the right which will lead you down through an apple orchard, then follow the stream on the right.

(7) At the junction, turn right and head up the track, ignoring the side paths. Once you reach the top of the plateau, at the fork, take the left-hand path and continue straight on until you reach the D91a road.

(8) Turn right onto the cycle path running alongside the road and head back to the starting car park (S/E).
