Rupt-sur-Saône is a small picturesque village in the Saône valley, at the foot of three hills, close to a salt road and a Roman road The nearby forest is home to the ghosts of the medieval loves of the Crusader Jean de Rupt, while the Saône offers the pleasures of fishing and boat trips.

In a rural landscape where industry has nevertheless left its mark, let's follow the route of the jalopy, which stopped in each village to load goods.

This is an easy but rather long walk, allowing you to discover the banks of the Saône and the Château de Ray-sur-Saône.

A refreshing immersion in the greenery of the woods, which can be punctuated by a nature-and-gourmet break in Aboncourt-Gésincourt, where a farmhouse inn satisfies your appetite with delicious home-made produce.

A varied walk through woods, meadows and farmland, passing through four villages rich in wayside shrines, superb wash houses, chapels and churches, some of which feature original architecture, such as the church in Chargey with its added Greco-Roman pediment, or the church in Gesincourt, which also serves as the town hall. Special feature: the figure-of-eight route offers the flexibility to walk the entire circuit or just one of the two circular loops.

A pleasant little hike in the hills above Montigny-lès-Vesoul. The route alternates between dirt tracks, gravel paths and a few tarmac sections. The trail crosses fields and small woods, offering pretty views of the surrounding villages. It passes close to Poncey and Chemilly, making for a peaceful and accessible walk. However, there is a slight inconvenience at the end of the route: the trail runs alongside a composting platform. Depending on the day, the wind and the temperature, unpleasant odours may disturb your walk for about 200 metres.

The village of La Rochelle takes its name from ‘Roche’, in the medieval sense of a hilltop on which a fortified castle stands. This small village is clustered around the castle square; the water from its fountains adds to its charm and authenticity.

Conflandey has two wetland nature reserves, comprising 300 hectares of water bodies for fishing and water sports, as well as a cave known as the Grotte du Carrousel, a sanctuary for bats.

It’s well worth venturing deep into the woods to discover the ruins of the Cistercian Abbey of Cherlieu.

Discover the village of Vaivre-et-Montoille, on the lakeside, and Chariez, a ‘Cité de Caractère’ in Franche-Comté. From the top of Camp de César, you can admire the plain and Lake Vesoul to the north and Chariez to the south. As you walk through Chariez, you’ll discover its vineyards, historic houses and its listed church. On the way back, enjoy the lake, its flora and fauna, boat trips, the beach and places to eat on either side.

Argillières is a small village steeped in legend... Its castle is said to have been home in the 18th century to the famous bandit Mandrin, a hero to the people but a thief whom the authorities were determined to bring down at any cost. Concealed by a high wall, this castle, built in the 17th and 18th centuries, is now mainly occupied during the summer months.

Come and discover the villages of Andelarre, Baignes and Mont-le-Vernois, small rural communities in Haute-Saône, along this pretty green route. Discover the site of the old Baignes forges along the route.

This hike is also known as the Cross and Côte-Chat hike. From the cross, there is a panoramic view of the Saône plain From Côte-Chat, there is a view of the hills in the south of the department, the Doubs and perhaps Mont Blanc.

A very pretty wooded route where you can recharge your batteries, with several beautiful viewpoints. Best done in sunny weather to make the most of the views.

This lovely circular walk starting from Velleguindry-et-Levrecey takes you on a journey of discovery through a landscape typical of the Haut-Saône countryside, alternating between woods, valleys and small local heritage sites.The route begins in the heart of the village, near the fountain and the wash houses, reminders of its rural past. Very soon, the route climbs gently towards the Bois des Rauchots, offering a chance to immerse yourself in a peaceful, shaded forest.

The scenic route through the Saône Valley in Recologne-les-Rioz is a circular route that starts on Rue de l’Église and returns to its starting point. Discover Recologne’s religious heritage along the Way of St James pilgrimage route, as well as its cultural heritage via Château de Ray (10 centuries of history).
