Walk with several panoramic views of the Lyon region and diverse landscapes.
No difficulty except for the small Vernatel ravine at the end of the route.
A surprise awaits hikers and pickers on the last section in spring, but shhh...
Four valleys around Marennes
A walk mainly on paths, along the Fausse, Charoin, Les Endiennes and Noyon valleys between Marennes and Villette-de-Vienne.
The Villette-de-Vienne pond and the Combe des Brigands starting from Luzinay
Starting from Luzinay, between wetlands and shady forests. Beautiful views of the Pilat, Vercors and Mont Blanc mountains and the Lyon metropolitan area. Depending on the season, between the start (S/E) and point (3), in the morning you may see storks resting in the wetlands of the Sévenne valley, grey herons and great egrets. The first part of the route, up to point (6), is mainly flat terrain on small roads with little traffic during the day and a few small paths. After the village of Villette-de-Vienne, deer and pheasants can often be seen on the hillsides, for those who know how to be discreet and observant. The end of the route takes you past the medieval chapel of Illins (11th and 13th centuries) and its cemetery. There are no particular difficulties in terms of orientation, but signposts are rare, if not non-existent.
Le Plan to Illins circular
This is a nice walk which mostly consists of walking around the town through beautiful forests and fields.
This route is a nice alternative to avoid any slippery and muddy parts when it has rained a lot.
It also passes through a historical cemetery and church where you can stop for a lunch break.
Le Taillis de Mure and the Illins Chapel
This is an unpretentious walk. It alternates between different landscapes (countryside, forest) and surfaces (gravel paths, small asphalt roads). If the weather is clear, you will have many views of the surrounding peaks. There are two small hills (not too steep) to keep you in shape.
Accessible for disabled sports Val d'Ozon
Val d'Ozon spring hike for disabled people. 12 km route in the hills above Ternay.
18km route to Saint-Symphorien d'Ozon
A hike starting from Louise Labé in Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon, heading towards the heights of Marennes, around Simandres.
Golf du Verger circular in Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon
Easy country walk with a beautiful view of the Alps if visibility is good. Best enjoyed outside of summer as there is little shade.
Combe Pelouze
Near Lyon, a day's walk along beautiful paths. Woods, a few hills, beautiful landscapes and a beautiful castle.
Route des Combes in Saint-Just
A varied walk. First, you walk across the plain, along a stream on the edge of a poplar forest. Then you walk through the valleys, on the hillside with some views of the Pilat and Lyonnais mountains.
Walk in the woods from the Chapel of Notre-Dame de Limon
Walk in the woods recommended in hot, dry weather. A few viewpoints, particularly of the Alps on a clear day. The paths are well maintained but the woods are much less so; they have something of an end-of-the-world feel to them.
In the Bois de Saint-Jean in Communay
A beautiful, quick walk in the heart of the Bois de Saint-Jean in Communay. There are quite a few steep sections in two or three places. Despite the proximity of the A46 motorway, you will feel far away from civilisation during this walk.
Around the Communay mines
Did you know that there are traces of mining activity in Communay (south of Lyon)?
To discover them, follow this easy path. This hike can be done in two stages:
1) around the Sauveur, Baytan, Guérin and Dufélix pits;
2°) around the Espérance shaft headframe (rebuilt by associations linked to the mine) and a small slag heap, now wooded.
A loop through the vineyards of Seyssuel
Stroll through the narrow streets of Seyssuel, then on the way back, pass by the old castle and continue through the vineyards. Half of this route is paved, but you will have some beautiful views of the Monts du Lyonnais, which makes this part seem shorter.
From the Chapulay woods to Septème Castle
A fairly easy hike alternating between forest trails and wide open views. Best done in dry weather with clear skies to make the most of the views of the Alps and the beautiful hills and valleys at the start of the route.
This is an opportunity to discover the Château de Septème.
