Le Plan to Illins circular

This is a nice walk which mostly consists of walking around the town through beautiful forests and fields.
This route is a nice alternative to avoid any slippery and muddy parts when it has rained a lot.
It also passes through a historical cemetery and church where you can stop for a lunch break.

Description of the walk

Start: Start the walk at Luzinay town hall where you park your car.

(S/E) When facing the town hall, take the road "Route du Plan" North that goes up behind it.

(1) At the road junction, leave the main road to take the "Vieille Route" on the left which goes through trees. Here, you are walking uphill.

(2) At the next junction, turn left and follow the path that curves to the right and keep going up until you reach a creek. The track is waymarked with yellow arrows.

(3) Cross the creek then turn into the path right.

(4) You then reach a road "Route de Chaponnay" where you turn left. At the roundabout, turn right on the road "Route de la Forêt". Keep going straight on the main road until you see a path on the right and an information board with a map.

(5) Here, leave the road, and turn right on the path. At the next path junction, turn left and continue on the path until you reach a junction to turn left to get to the road "Route de la Foret" again.

(6) Turn right along the road.

(7) Continue on that same road going around the farm "Ferme du Chateau". Further ahead reach a road "Route de la Chapelle" where you turn left. Keep walking along this road as you pass the town's historical chapel "Chapelle d'Illins". There is a picnic area behind it where you can stop for a break.

(8) At the junction "Route d'Illins" road, turn left.

(9) Then, turn right on the road "Chemin du Piot" which will turn into a track with a view over a downward field and the bottom of the village.

(10) At the next junction, turn right on the path "Chemin des Vignes", toward Luzinay.

(11) Leave the path and turn right onto the road "Toure de Villeneuve". Turn left at the road junction with "Route de la Garenne". Turn right on the road "Chemin de la Batie". Finally, turn left at the "Stop sign" onto the road "Rue des Allobroges" and walk back where you started in front of the village's town hall. (S/E)

Warning: there are lots of fallen trees after you cross the stream. There was a barrier in place because a logger was working there. I went off-track to get round it.

The return journey involves a lot of road, admittedly narrow but not the most interesting. Sorry about that.
