Start at the edge of the Chapulay woods, on the border between the municipalities of Estrablin and Septème. Park at the side of the road, at the junction of the Route de Septême (in the municipality of Estrablin) and the Route des Écuyers (no parking problems).
(S/E) To start, take the wide path that continues along the Route des Écuyers and runs alongside the Chapulay woods.
(1) At the end of the road, at the junction with the Chapulay road, take the small road opposite (towards Laveysin).
(2) Then, 200 metres further on, take the road on the left that runs alongside the woods. Continue along this road surrounded by fields, then woods and more fields. When you are surrounded by fields, you will come to a fork (Y-junction). Take the road on the right, between a field and a pasture (the road on the left is a dead end). When you reach the road, turn left (Route des Mitoyens). (On a clear day, there is a beautiful view of the Alps). Follow the road to the first crossroads. At this crossroads, turn left onto Route des Mitoyens.
(3) About 350 metres after the crossroads, take a small road on the left marked in yellow, called Chemin de la Plagne, at a place called Fon Carra. The small road turns into a path marked in yellow.
At the end of Chemin de la Plagne, take the road on the left that descends gently.
(4) 100 metres further on, take the path on the right, lined with tall trees, still marked in yellow. At the end, the path turns into a small road.
(5) After 100 metres, turn left onto the Chemin de la Guérite.
(Beautiful views of the hills and valleys surrounding Septème and Oytier-Saint-Oblas). Descend towards Septème, going around the castle. Before the bottom of the descent, you will see the castle on your left.
(5) At the road, turn left towards Septème 0.8 km (yellow sign).
Follow the road along the beautiful walls of Septème Castle. When you have gone around the castle, turn around and go back along the same road.
(6) Almost opposite the castle entrance, take the path on the left (north-west), which leads to the rampart road. At the nearby crossroads, turn left onto the millers' path.
Optional: At the end of the millers' path, continue for about ten metres along the path opposite to admire a pretty Dauphiné house in a beautiful park on the right. Turn back and take the groom's road on the right.
Continue straight ahead on this road, cross a small bridge and follow a small stream where brown trout breed.
(7) Shortly after the bridge, you will see a small waterfall on the left in an old water intake that was used for irrigation and to supply water to the old mill. Take the path on the left at this water intake. Continue along this path through the wetlands until you reach the tarmac palefrenier road.
This road turns right at a right angle, then crosses a bridge over the stream.
(8) 100 metres after the bridge, turn right, then immediately left, and take the paved road called "Château Robillard". The road quickly turns into a rocky path that climbs into the forest. During the climb, take the left-hand path at the first intersection. When you reach the plateau, still in the forest, take the right-hand path at the fork.
(1) A few dozen metres further on, cross the D38 road and take the path opposite (same path as on the way there). 50 metres after the picnic area, turn right onto the yellow-marked path. After 150 to 200 metres, turn left onto a wide path straight ahead into the woods. When you reach the road, turn left and 200 metres further on, you will return to the starting point.
