Gigny-sur-Saône walks

This hike will take you past numerous wash houses and fountains as you walk through pleasant woodland in hot weather, returning via the Chemin des Moines. If you love beautiful stonework and buildings, you're in for a treat. After the hike, you can enjoy the lakes of Laives or visit La Ferté Abbey.

A route through the woodland around Sennecey-le-Grand.

Circular forest loop in the Tournugeois region, on either side of a discreet little valley connecting the hamlets of Corlay to the village of Montceaux-Ragny. Halfway along, you can temporarily leave your hiking boots and accessories behind to show off your talents: singing, dancing, reciting, etc. You will find a stage and bleachers in the middle of nature.

This La Chapelle-Hauterive-Messey-La Chapelle circular route follows the Grosne valley along the right bank from La Chapelle to Hauterive, then the left bank from Hauterive to Messey, before returning to La Chapelle via the mill.

Starting from the hamlet of La Madeleine, this historic path immerses you in a place steeped in history. Here, on 8 and 9 March 1944, a group of resistance fighters based in the surrounding forests was taken by surprise and surrounded, leading to fierce fighting in the woods, the fields and right into the heart of the village. This site commemorates the sacrifice of four resistance fighters and three residents of the hamlet, including the Jouvenceau brothers. As a tribute, a memorial has been erected using stones from the burnt-out houses, ensuring the memory of these events lives on. It is a moving stop, combining heritage, nature and the duty to remember.

Discover Brancion, a small medieval village with a trip to "paradise".

This walk will take you from Royer to Brancion via the Chemin des Moines, at the heart of the Romanesque route linking the abbeys of Tournus and Cluny. Perched on a rocky outcrop, the village of Brancion has been inhabited for 3,000 years. Brancion welcomes you and invites you to discover an idyllic medieval world: a fortified gate, a keep overlooking the village and the Romanesque church, exceptional views and leisurely strolls through a completely pedestrianised area. Nestled in lush greenery, the castle is a place where time seems to have stood still.

The Sentier de la Vivelle is an invitation to unwind in the heart of nature. This circular forest path, particularly suitable for families and Sunday outings, crosses the Bois de Guerfand. The route is shaded and flat, making it accessible to all, including young children. It is an ideal route for discovering the local flora and enjoying the tranquillity of a preserved woodland.

This walk takes you past two landmarks of local history: Montcoy Castle, visible from the path and a feature of the Burgundian Bresse landscape, and the Guerfand motte, the remains of an ancient medieval fortified site. It is a walk combining nature and heritage.

This is an educational trail. Jack la Panouille spent many years of his childhood in Allériot. He still cherishes the memory of a young girl from Bey with whom he is still secretly in love. With Max’s help, Jack decides to pluck up his courage and go and declare his love to the beautiful Adélaïde. Puzzles are dotted along the route to help the two friends reach their goal.

It is undoubtedly the sand dunes that represent the most striking feature of the Nature Reserve. Shaped 5,000 years ago by the wind, these shifting sands are partially covered in mosses and lichens. Only species adapted to arid environments manage to colonise them. Just a few metres from this desert-like environment lies a waterlogged area stretching over 5 to 6 hectares: a wooded peat bog, the presence of which at an altitude of just 200 metres is surprising. A third, very different environment can be seen not far from there: Étang Fouget, whose surrounding marsh takes the form of a vegetative labyrinth and attracts numerous birds.

This walk invites you to discover the local heritage: the Saugy wash house, once the heart of the hamlet; the Saône sluice gate, which regulates the river’s level; and the Caillet wash house, nestled in lush greenery. A stroll through nature and the village’s history.

Sornay, a rural village of 2,000 inhabitants situated near Louhans-Châteaurenaud and Branges, is bordered by two rivers: the Sâne Morte and the Seille. The latter, popular with anglers and boaters, features a towpath perfect for exploring the wetlands and their characteristic flora and fauna.

Set off to explore the church of Villegaudin, a testament to the village’s past, walk near the Étang de Villegaudin, a haven of biodiversity, and finish at the Moulin de Gabrot, a former private mill nestled on the banks of the Cosne. A walk rich in nature and local heritage!

Set off in search of the heritage of Saint-Martin-en-Bresse by exploring its 19th-century church, notable for its neo-Gothic style and colourful stained-glass windows, as well as the old railway station, once a hub of trade between the Bresse and Chalon, now gone but steeped in history.

The Grand Pâquier Trail links the village of Damerey on the banks of the Saône, crossing a wet meadow classified as a Natura 2000 site. Along this themed trail, you’ll meet Élizabeth the Egret, the mascot, who playfully guides you as you discover the elements that make up the landscape and its diverse forms of life. Puzzles are provided at each totem.

A stroll along old stones, vineyards and footpaths. The journey is much like a pilgrimage in this part of the Saône-et-Loire region, with many religious ornaments.

A beautiful circular through the woods, well shaded in summer. Pass near Saint-Denis de Vaux, at the top of the cliffs. Beautiful views over the Chalon-sur-Saône plain, then over the Vaux valley. Return near the stubble fields in the woods. Possible extension to Russilly.

A peaceful crossing of the Plateau de Saint-Désert in the vicinity of Mont Avril and Mont Brogny. In the distance, the perched hamlet of Cruchaud stands guard to the South, before the route offers an escape to the Plaine de Saône.

This route will take you to the top of the Givry hill, the forest planted with Austrian pines, cedars and deciduous trees, and the limestone grassland classified as a Natura 2000 site. Along the way, you will discover the charming hamlet of Russilly, nestled in a valley overlooking the vineyards. This walk offers multiple views of the Côte Chalonnaise and the Saône plain.

This route is fun and educational. On foot or by bike, join the two friends, Jack la Panouille and Max Decoop, on their adventures in Saint-Maurice-en-Rivière! With their ears pricked up, Max and Jack have heard rumours of a vast treasure. It seems the Holy Grail is to be found in the village. This might just be the chance for the two corn cobs to strike it rich and make a clean getaway for good! But our two adventurers have their work cut out for them... Help them on their journey!

This is an educational trail. Max found an old photo album belonging to his grandfather in his attic. He is charmed by the old photographs taken in Saint-Didier: typical farms, beautiful fishing ponds, and mouth-watering poultry. Without a moment’s hesitation, Max takes his friend Jack in the footsteps of his ancestor, but things have changed a great deal since the 1950s.

This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Vallée des Vaux, just a stone's throw from Chalon. The Falaises de Château Beau and the Croix de Theu are the highlights of the walk, offering sweeping views from their summits and forming part of the scenery throughout the route.

A lovely walk, starting from a well-preserved village with a unique heritage. Here, nothing comes without a bit of effort. You always have to go up before you can come down. But if you give it a go, your steps will take you through the vineyards to the Blanot caves, a protected site which, in winter, is home to small colonies of common pipistrelles and lesser and greater horseshoe bats – species that play a major role in the site’s reputation. The return journey will take you through the shade of the woods.

A beautiful, undulating route that will take you along a newly marked trail through the municipal woodlands of Blanot, offering some very pretty views, and through the Combe du Nivernais. It continues along the Grison with its old mills before climbing up to Culey and reaching the shade of the woods on the Faitral path, which offers glimpses of the Grosne valley in places.

A hilly route winding its way between the Clunisois and Mâconnais hills. Between Blanot and Azé, you’ll discover Vaux-sur-Aine and its castle, as well as La Bouzolle with its striking tower, much loved by Sacha Guitry.In any case, this is a somewhat challenging route that requires a bit of stamina and an adventurous spirit. It’s not an easy ride, but it offers its rewards.

A short, slightly challenging circular walk that takes you through vineyards, scrubland and woods from one of the most beautiful villages in the Clunisois region to its highest peak, Mont Saint-Romain, above which you can sometimes spot paragliders on certain days.

Setting out on this walk means following in the footsteps of the men and women of yesteryear; it means experiencing first-hand what daily life was like in this valley. The hard work required to tame this land can still be felt in the places you pass through: the dry-stone walls lining the paths, built with patience; the wash houses weathered by the laundry so regularly scrubbed; the vines forced to take root in the soil…

This walk will take you from the Grison Valley to the Grosne Valley, climbing the slopes of the Bois de la Roche. The narrowness of the former will prepare you for the vast expanse of the latter. History will accompany your every step, with a deanery and castles adorning each of their slopes.
