The Vivelle Trail

The Sentier de la Vivelle is an invitation to unwind in the heart of nature. This circular forest path, particularly suitable for families and Sunday outings, crosses the Bois de Guerfand. The route is shaded and flat, making it accessible to all, including young children. It is an ideal route for discovering the local flora and enjoying the tranquillity of a preserved woodland.

Description of the walk

Car parking is available on site at the town hall.

(S/E) At the bottom of the car park, turn left and you will come to a crossroads.

(1) Continue straight ahead, then take the road on the right at the give way sign. Walk straight ahead for 700 m.

(2) Enter the Chalonnais National Forest at La Grande Vendue. Follow the main forest track for 1.7 km. This turns right.

(3) At the junction on the 213 road, take the forest track on the right, then continue straight on for 1.3 km to return to the village of Guerfand. Pass by the Étang de la Vivelle and arrive on Rue du Bourg.

(1) Take the road on the left, then continue straight on for 200 m to return to the town hall (S/E).

Notes

Signposting: follow the signs (GUE1) and the yellow markings (Promenade and Hiking trail).

Safetyinstructions: make sure you are well equipped (rucksack, first-aid kit, suitable clothing, good footwear, etc.). Bring a bottle of water and protect yourself from the sun. Carry a mobile phone. Do not leave any litter in the countryside. Take care when crossing roads. Do not stray from the marked trails. Keep clear of forestry work. Respect private property and the regulations in force. Take care during the hunting season (September to February).

Worth a visit

Guerfand Church is a classic brick building, small but perfectly proportioned.

Part of this circular route shares the route with the Bois de Montcoy trail (signposted MON1), which crosses the village of Montcoy and passes in front of the castle in this village in the Bresse region.
