Worth a visit

Visible from the hiking trail, Montcoy Castle is set in a wooded, rural landscape typical of the Burgundian Bresse region. Of ancient origin, it bears witness to the seigneurial presence in this area. Altered over the centuries, the castle’s architecture today reflects various historical periods. The castle is private property: it can only be viewed from the paths, and is not open to visitors. Please respect the site and the owners’ peace and quiet.

In Guerfand lies an ancient medieval fortified site, now represented mainly by a castle mound surrounded by ditches. This wide, high mound still bears traces of the enclosure and the bailey that once surrounded it, allowing one to imagine the site of a medieval wooden fortified castle that has since disappeared.
