A pleasant little walk at the bottom of the Munster valley, in Mittlach, amidst forest, river, moraines and village. Introduced to the Vosges in 1954, chamois have since colonised many of the steep, rocky slopes of the Hautes-Vosges. With a bit of luck, you might just spot them!

A lovely little family circular path to discover Lac Vert nestled in the heart of the Vosges pine trees.

One of the most beautiful walks in the Hautes Chaumes! This walk will take you through magnificent landscapes. The Rothenbachkopf (1,316 m), also known as the ‘Matterhorn of the Vosges’, has a steep summit that contrasts with the rounded shapes of the Ballons.

This is one of the classic walks in the Munster Valley. Walkers will discover the magnificent and refreshing Stolz Ablass waterfalls and the historic Mule Trail (14-18), all in the shade of the fir trees.

Set off to explore the beautiful Altenweiher Lake, above Mittlach, surrounded by the peaks of the Kastelberg and the Rainkopf. The monks of Munster Abbey used this lake for fish farming until the 19th century. Its name means "old pond". Legend has it that a golden carriage is said to be sunk there!

A lovely walk with magnificent views over the village of Mittlach. The forest forms a significant part of the Mittlach landscape. This trail offers the chance to discover the many tree species found in the Vosges forests (fir, beech, maple, etc.) as well as other species introduced by foresters (American red oak, Douglas fir, etc.)

A pretty loop around the heights of Metzeral and Muhlbach with beautiful views of the Grande Vallée, the Vosges ridges and the Hohneck massif. The Kuhfeil lookout offers a breathtaking view of Metzeral. It is also a place of remembrance. Bitter fighting took place here during the Battle of Metzeral in 1915.

Notre-Dame du Schauenberg clings to the mountainside and is a striking feature of the landscape. The highlight of this route is the splendid view over the Alsace plain, the Kaiserstuhl and the Black Forest from the orientation point. Walkers will also discover the Chapel of Saint Leonard, the Teufelstein (Devil’s Stone), the Stations of the Cross in Pfaffenheim and Gueberschwihr, and can also reach the Druids’ Table, which overlooks Notre-Dame du Schauenberg. Please note that the first part of the walk, up to Schauenberg, is quite steep and is not suitable for those unaccustomed to walking.

This lovely route showcases Westhalten’s religious heritage and its many crosses, its renowned vineyard and the dry hills of Strangenberg. The latter is a remarkable natural area home to several types of orchids, blood-red geraniums, wild tulips and grape hyacinths, as well as, in terms of wildlife, hoopoes, green lizards and vipers. Walkers are treated to numerous views and panoramas of the village, the Grand and Petit Ballon mountains, the Alsace plain and the Black Forest. Important: the route is mainly in open country, so don’t forget a hat, a cap and something to drink!

This route links the famous castles of Ribeauvillé, which majestically overlook the town, and leads to the Notre-Dame de Dusenbach monastery, an important place of pilgrimage in Alsace. Magnificent views of the vineyards, the plain and the Black Forest can be admired from the fortified castles, the highest points of the walk.

This historical route allows visitors to discover the history, traditions and heritage of Soultzbach-les-Bains, the smallest and most charming medieval town in Alsace! This walk, which sometimes follows the river, features 16 information panels and starts at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church.

Not to be missed! This is one of the most iconic and famous hikes in the Vosges. The landscapes and views of the entire Vosges mountain range, the Black Forest and even the Alps (on a clear day) are simply magnificent. If you're lucky, you may even spot chamois on the slopes of Hohneck, so don't forget your binoculars! ⚠️ This route is not accessible in winter. The route between (4), (2) and (5) is closed from 1 November to 30 April 2022 (Prefectural Order of 18 May 2022).

A short family walk to explore the authentic and charming village of Vieux Servoz and the River Arve via a lovely, partly shaded route. ⚠️ 19/06/2026: route amended to Route 1 to avoid a private area.

This route offers some of the most beautiful and spectacular views of the Munster Valley, all in the heart of the Frankenthal-Missheimle Nature Reserve. Several difficult passages along the cliffside. Not suitable for those who are afraid of heights.
