Schiessrothried Lake route in the Hohneck massif

Parking is available at the Gaschney station car park

(S/E) From the car park, head uphill and walk past the Gaschney farm, then turn right towards Schiessroth along the tarmac path marked with red-white-red Red Rectangles. The climb is occasionally quite steep and the path is strewn with small pebbles which can be slippery. You’ll arrive at the Schiessroth Farm Inn. The view of the Hohneck massif is spectacular.

(1) Take the path on the left, marked with a Red Rectangle, towards Lake Schiessrothried. The descent is winding and, on the whole, very steep and slippery. You’ll reach a fork in the path.

(2) Turn right onto the path leading to the lake, which is very close by. You can walk around the lovely Schiessrothried Lake.

(3) Retrace your steps.

(2) Continue along the^{Blue Rectangle/GR®531}signposted path, which climbs gently, until you reach the Blebelgru junction.

(4) Turn left towards Gaschney (still signposted with a Blue Rectangle). This pleasant path leads to the Gaschney car park (S/E).
