Description of the walk

Parking is available at the car park near the Renaud Forest House.

(S/E) Turn left onto a sloping forest track. This track passes through the beautiful Herrenberg State Forest, which still bears some scars from Storm Lothar in 1999.

(1) At the Fork in the road, continue due south along the Chemin Marie Louise.

(2) After a long straight stretch and a final bend, the walk continues straight ahead along a quiet road (Chemin du Camping).

(3) Turn right to cross the Grande Fecht via a small bridge, then turn left onto a pleasant street in Haut-Mittlach.

(4) After the last house in Haut-Mittlach, turn left and walk uphill past another house via some wooden steps. At the end of the path, after the second small bridge, head up to the left to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

A pleasant route to do with two young children, starting with a gentle climb for about a kilometre, after which it’s all downhill.
The first half of the route is through woodland, followed by a short stretch through a small residential area.
No particular difficulties.
