Park at the Sillacker car park (48.019258, 7.040779)
(S/E) Turn back on foot, then turn left onto the steep, Red Ring-marked climb until you reach a side path
(1) Turn left (off the marked trail) onto the path where you can see the remains of the old Sillacker military cemetery dating from the Great War, as well as the grave of Captain Jacques Mounier of the 23rd Battalion of Alpine Chasseurs, killed on 15 June 1915 during the French capture of Metzeral. Continue to the next marked path.
(2) Continue straight on along the Blue Rectangle marked trail towards Lake Schiessrothried.
(3) From the lake’s embankment, you have two options:
- you can either walk around the lake.
- Depending on the route, you can immediately turn left onto the Red Rectangle-marked track, which will take you back to your starting point (S/E)
