Vigeois walks

Hike in the Vézère gorges starting from Vigeois, a charming little village where you can see a magnificent 11th-century abbey church, destroyed and rebuilt in 1489 after the Hundred Years' War. On this route, you will pass the old hospital (1840), cross the old bridge (12th century, known as the Pont des Anglais) and walk around half-timbered houses. A little further on, you will find an old carding mill.

This hike will take you to the ruins of two old mills dating from the 18th century, built on the Brezou stream. You can see old millstones, dykes, a supply channel and the ruins of the Moulin de la Forêt building with the water inlets under the mill.

This lovely little walk will allow you to explore the banks of the river: the Vézère. Downstream from the town of Uzerche. An old saying goes:“He who has a house in Uzerche has a castle in Limousin”.

The route first climbs towards Puy Chammard on a quiet road with clear views of Uzerche. After that, it mainly follows paths to make a large circular route around Espartignac, crossing the Troh stream several times. This part offers clear views towards Les Monédières. The route ends along the Vézère river.

Impossible to cross the path, which is closed by municipal order.This lovely walk will take you to discover La Chartreuse du Glandier, founded in 1219, known at the time as "Notre-Dame du Glandier", destroyed during the Revolution of 1789 and rebuilt to its present state by the Carthusian Fathers in 1869.You will also discover the Étang de La Rechèze, built in 1457 to serve as a reservoir feeding the Canal des Moines (1457).Today it is a care home for people with intellectual disabilities.

A pleasant hike with little elevation gain, following wide farm tracks and quiet country roads.

A lovely path winding through the countryside along sunken lanes. A fairly shaded and cool route, recommended in hot weather. Report from a user on 28 October 2024:Following the bad weather of recent months, the path from "La Brégère" is closed to cyclists and >hikers by a municipal order. Indeed, the two bridges over the Habriat stream are impassable. No >repair date mentioned.

A walk starting from the lake, which takes you along numerous tarmac sections, through fields on well-maintained paths, with streams crossing the path in places.

A lovely walk that combines the pleasure of walking with a sense of remembrance. This detour takes you to Rouffignac. Alternatively, you can follow "le chemin du Maquis", which is a little technical at at the moment. A pleasant walk on the heights of Voutezac, with magnificent views over the Brive valley and Voutezac.

A short walk near Chanteix where you can admire a pretty waterfall and its stream, the Maumont Blanc. An ideal spot for a picnic at the end of the walk. The hike is easy, with only 400 metres of road.
