A hike that combines nature and heritage, with beautiful panoramic views, ponds and the Plantay Tower.
Ponds and Notre Dame des Dombes Abbey
I had wanted to walk through this flat countryside with its multitude of ponds for a long time. I suggest this route, which starts at Notre-Dame des Dombes Abbey. It will take you past some beautiful ponds and local farms. Depending on the season, you will be accompanied by the songs of a multitude of birds. Frogs will jump out of the water as you pass by and curious cows will come to meet you.
Loop around Saint-Éloi
This easy circuit around the commune of Saint-Éloi in the Ain department will give you a glimpse of the Dombes region.
It also offers plenty of geocaching opportunities for enthusiasts.
Circuit of the 11 lakes in the Dombes
This walk takes you through typical Dombes landscapes such as ponds, fields and copses. There are many ponds to see, making this route particularly interesting. Remember to bring your binoculars.
Around Pérouges
This loop will take you out of the medieval town to discover the varied landscape of the region, with woods, crops, a few old houses and panoramic views. The 9 km route is easy to follow and well marked in orange.
On the edge of the Étangs des Dombes lakes, starting from Meximieux
This is an easy, short walk along quiet coastal paths in Meximieux, partly through farmland and partly through deciduous hedgerows. It is also a way to get close to some of the ponds in the Dombes and see lots of birds. At the Virgin of Saint-Sulpice, a beautiful panorama opens up before us, revealing the Ain plain, the Bugey and the Rhône, and even the Alps, depending on the weather.

An easy route that takes you past the many ponds of the Dombes. Bring your binoculars.
From Ain to the Moutonnière Plateau
A pleasant hike with a slight incline, shaded sections and sections on dirt trails. This hike combines nature and heritage as it passes close to two castles.
The Vernange Pond
An easy walk leading to the Vernange Sensitive Natural Area with its observatory. Don't forget your binoculars.
Circular around Bressolles from Lac Neyton
Most of the walk is on paths through the woods or along farm tracks. There are a few short sections on country roads.
For those who want to diversify their activities, there is the option of a day's fishing at Lac Neyton.

Family walk above Montluel, along the Cotey stream, between woods and farmland.
Vieux Jonc route
This walk takes you past the many ponds of the Dombes and crosses the Vieux Jonc twice.
Étang Chardonnet circuit in Sainte-Olive
A pleasant walk typical of the Dombes. Mainly on tarmac but with very little traffic; you are on secondary roads. Along the route there is a high concentration of ponds, which are full of water in 2020. The view of the ponds is unobstructed and you will encounter many different birds. The walk is punctuated by a variety of landscapes: ponds, fields, copses and even a view of the Beaujolais region.
From Bois des Pommes to Étang Dimanche
An easy family walk that starts at Mionnay Station, crosses the Bois des Pommes and leads to Étang Dimanche.
Circular via Colloverge mountain starting from Saint-Denis-en-Bugey
This hike will take you to both sides of the massif between Torcieu and Saint-Denis-en-Bugey.
Enjoy beautiful views of the region, the Monts du Lyonnais, the vineyards of Vaux-en-Bugey, the ridges of the Albarine Valley and a passage through the pretty village of Ambutrix, not to mention the start of the Saint-Denis tower, which offers a panoramic view of the region.
The Bois des Franchises between Chavanoz and Villette-d'Anthon
A section of this very pleasant woodland stretches almost from Pont-de-Chéruy to Villette-d'Anthon.
Visit above Saint-Martin-du-Mont
Start from the car park of the multi-purpose hall in Saint-Martin-du-Mont. The trail winds its way around the Bois de la Cha woods, passing through Gravelle and Soblay.
La Balme les Grottes - Charette - Parmilieu
This is a fairly easy hike along the northern edge of the Isle Crémieu plateau, through fields, pleasant villages and a few wooded areas.

A beautiful winter walk in a park entirely dedicated to leisure activities.

Circular Val de Saône in Sathonay
Walk starting from the church in Sathonay-Village. Slight incline, easy walk for families. You will be able to see animals at two points along the walk: horses, donkeys, chickens, geese and ostriches.
Le Grand Large and the Jonage Canal
Discover this leisure area located a stone's throw from Lyon, accessible by tram, and also immerse yourself in the nature of the Miribel Park marshes to discover its fauna and flora.
Mont Rignat and the springs of the Reyssouze
A beautiful loop passing through a small, easy, unobstructed peak offering a wide panorama of the Bugey, the Bresse plain, the Beaujolais mountains and the Lyon region. The springs of the Reyssouze reward us at the end of the hike.
From Hières-sur-Amby to Larina
This circuit takes us from the village of Hières-sur-Amby at the foot of the cliff to the archaeological site of Larina on the cliff. It offers panoramic views of the Pilat Massif, the Monts du Lyonnais, the plains of Lyon and the Ain, and the foothills of the Bugey.

A shaded trail that takes you through the Gorges de Verbois, very pleasant in hot weather, and past some typical buildings.
Northern Isère From the Larina plateau to the Chapelle des Aviateurs in Leyrieu
From medieval Vernas to ancient Larina and back via the limestone plateau to the Chapelle des Aviateurs (a memorial to two plane crashes), return to the Middle Ages via the fishpond at the Château Delphinal de Vernas.
Loop in the Montagne Noire starting from Revonnas
Walk in the Revermont between Revonnas and Ceyzériat via the Montagne Noire. Beautiful view of the plain and, to finish, a detour to the Ceyzériat waterfall.
Lemps Pond, Moulin de la Roche starting from Saint-Baudille-de-la-Tour
A walk in a natural environment where you can observe a wide variety of wildlife, including European pond turtles at the Lemps pond.
This hike can be done in late October or early November, when you can admire the beautiful autumn colours of the bald cypress trees at the Surbaix pond next to the La Roche waterfall.
