Têt (fleuve) walks

A classic in the Eastern Pyrenees, this route takes you to the highest point in the department (2,921 metres), passing by more than a dozen small mountain lakes.

Beautiful views of the Carlit. Three-quarters of the route is shaded near the lakes. Rhododendrons, blueberries, etc.

A first pretty lake with a view of Carlit and a little less crowded than the surrounding lakes, then a return via Lac d'Aude with a beautiful view of Lac des Bouillouses and Carlit.

This is a short, easy loop that offers beautiful views.

This is a beautiful snowshoe hike at an altitude of 2,000 metres. It can also be done in summer. The only problem is the mandatory parking area, which is lower down. The shuttle buses operating during this period may stop at this car park.

What could be more surprising than visiting a chapel built by human hands, completely isolated on a seemingly impassable rock face, with a huge cave overlooking it, also equipped with an altar forming another chapel, this one natural and even larger than the previous one!On the way up, there is a smaller cave. Both caves are completely safe. With a torch, you can explore them more fully...From up there, you'll get a breathtaking view of the Têt Valley, the surrounding valleys and the Canigou.

This is a hike that can be done even in winter and in the sunshine. We are in a region with a privileged climate. This easy circular hike of just over 8 km takes you through fragrant and colourful scrubland vegetation with the majestic Canigou massif as a backdrop.

This hike to Pla de Barrès, known as Little Canada, is a lovely circular loop along the La Têt river in the municipality of Bolquère.

Hike to discover this low mountain range that was once exploited by humans. Numerous terraces bear witness to this past. Vines were cultivated here. Mechanisation marked the end of the exploitation of these wild and difficult-to-access areas.Yellow markings are virtually non-existent, and recent directional posts have been installed (observed at the end of January 2024). They are not really relevant. A GPX track is necessary on this route with its many paths.

This is a short hike in the mountains above Serdinya, starting from Villefranche-de-Conflent and ending at the fountains of Les Horts, an abandoned village in ruins. The hike follows the old village access path, known as the "Chemin des Horts à Villefranche" in the Napoleonic land registry, although it is in very poor condition. The landscape is typical of the Catalan Pyrenees: mountains, yet with Mediterranean buildings and vegetation.

A climb with the Yellow Train from Fontpedrouse to La Cabanasse and a beautiful tree-lined descent along the Têt. A very beautiful hike, partly in the forest, this is a different variation of La Cabanasse to Planès offered by PO Express, with the possibility of finding some ceps depending on the season, and passing under the Gisclard Bridge, a true work of art for its time.

A wonderful, refreshing getaway, accessible to all, in the heart of unspoilt wilderness at the foot of the "roof" of the Pyrénées-Orientales. An ideal route for immersing yourself in the beauty of the high-altitude landscapes around the listed site of Les Bouillouses. This route allows you to discover military remains (Vauban's cistern and redoubt) as well as former ore quarries (marble, manganese and talc) and, above all, superb panoramic views of the Têt and Cady valleys. You can also see Villefranche-de-Conflent and Fort Libéria from above. This is a fairly easy hike, but don't underestimate the length.

We are between the former kingdoms of Aragon and France, a superb circular hike of just over 17 km that will take you to two abandoned villages and up to Puig Pedros and its border marker. A region that is always sunny, with a splendid view of Mont Canigou through the fragrant maquis vegetation.

To get from the Lastourg campsite to Serdinya without taking the main road, there is a charming path that runs alongside the Têt river.Please note that crossing the campsite is not permitted, as it is private property!

Part of the long itinerary (9 days) around Carlit, hiking from refuge to refuge, based on the Peyrics tour and using various marked trails.

Roc Campanyà rises to an altitude of 1,134 metres, just above the Mas de Lastourg campsite in the Têt Valley, very close to Villefranche-de-Conflent. Breathtaking views of the Têt Valley, the Rotja Valley, the Fillols Valley and the Catalan giant, the Canigou. With a sheer drop of 834 metres, it seems inaccessible... yet it is!

This short hike of just over 7 km takes you along the banks of the Canal de Jando (or "Rec Nou"), an abandoned irrigation canal that now serves as a footpath.The unmarked trail is located on the south side of the Têt valley and offers a sunny 2.5-hour walk or 1.5-hour run on suitable sections, close to the campsite, providing hikers with an alternative to longer hikes that require a car.

This hike in the north-western sector of Rodès mainly follows little-used paths. This circular route sometimes requires walking on poorly marked paths overgrown with vegetation (trousers recommended), and sometimes on well-marked paths or tracks (but as little as possible, as we prefer the paths). The "common thread" of the day is the almost constant view of Canigou. Some parts are not easy to walk, so they are reserved for walkers who are not afraid to "wear out their shoes". A wild route to the source of the Aude (or Auda) river, starting from the iconic Lac des Bouillouses. On the agenda: breathtaking views of the Carlit and even the Canigó, streams to cross, pine forests, wide open spaces and, of course, lakes.Please note that access to Les Bouillouses is restricted (check with the departmental council or the Pyrénées Catalanes tourist office).

Puig Pedrós is a classic hike in Rodès. We wanted to climb it via a path that is no longer used. It runs around the Vallagra Ravine. As it was poorly marked, if at all, we reopened the middle section of the path, before and after crossing the Còrrec de Vallagra, on the right and left banks (lots of brambles and Mediterranean vegetation). We crossed the stream (elevation 319) using tree trunks deposited by the recent floods. This part of the route is a bit adventurous and is intended for adventurers. The rest of the circular route is uneventful.The GPX track is highly recommended.

With Rodès Castle and the Guillera Gorges to start the hike, the diversity of the next section offers spectacular heath and rock landscapes in the midst of a unique mineral environment. It feels like wandering through a world of giants who have placed rounded blocks of rock, forming piles of monumental boulders scattered among the broom and rockroses that dot the area.

A pleasant family outing starting from the Bouillouses listed site. The Esquits circular offers the chance to discover three ponds, including the Pradella, located on the GR®10, where there is also a refuge.

This is a good, challenging hike, mostly off the beaten track, along ancient paths in the Sant-Pere massif. At the foot of Roc Campanya/Campagna, you will discover an incredible view of the Têt and Rotja valleys. There is a 180° view with the 2,784-metre-high Canigou in the south.
