Head to the Pla dels Avellans car park. This car park is accessible in winter after the road has been cleared of snow.
(S) Head north-west along the snow-covered road. After 250 m, turn right into the woods and climb north-west. You will soon rejoin the road in a left-hand bend, but continue climbing through the woods, still heading north-west. You will rejoin the snow-covered road, which you now follow (as there is a mountain on your right and a descent towards the river and a penstock on your left). Follow this snow-covered road and cut across all the bends, following the telephone poles.
(1) At around 1,890 m, it becomes impossible to cut across; simply follow this snow-covered road. You will be overlooking the torrent and, in the distance on the left, the penstock descending from Les Bouillouses. You will come to a large bend to the left at around 1,990 m (in this bend, a sign on the right indicates the direction of the Estany d'Aude). Continue along the south-west road. You will come to a large bend to the right. The road resumes its north-west direction.
(2) At the next bend to the left, leave this road and climb up to the right into the forest. This path overlooks and runs alongside the road.
(3) After 500 m, you will arrive above the chalets and accommodation at Les Bouillouses.
Climb up to the dam and cross it. You are now at an altitude of 2,000 m. Take a well-deserved rest with a snack in front of this beautiful landscape.
(4) At the end of the dam, turn left, heading south with the Roc de La Calma chairlift in sight.
(5) After 1,600 metres, take a wide curve to climb above the Estany de La Pradella.
Descend towards this lake, turning right, and you will arrive at a shelter.
(6). There are yellow markings at the shelter. Take care to go around the lake on the right, staying away from the frozen and snow-covered banks. Continue east for 400 m from the shelter and leave the red and whiteGR®10trail.
(7) Turn left, continuing to follow the edge of the pond.
(8) Arrive at the Estany Negre and go around this pond on the right, staying as close to the forest as possible.
(9) At the end of the pond, climb a small step and descend into a steep valley for 30 m. Follow the stream on the right bank for about 150 m and cross it (due north).
After crossing the stream, continue eastwards. Use the few yellow markings on the trees to help you. From the stream crossing, the path descends steeply into gullies.
(10) When you reach the torrent (La Têt, which is actually a river), turn right and follow a fence that runs alongside the Têt. Cross a stream (which comes from Estany Negre) and continue following this fence. Continue following the Têt until you reach a mountain pasture (La Muntanya) at the foot of a chairlift.
(11) Take the bridge on the left over the Têt, which will take you back to the Pla dels Avellans car park.
