After much heated discussion over dinner, we decided to climb Petit Peric rather than descend directly to Lac des Bouillouses.
Please note: the route is off-trail and, even though the locals assure us that it is a hike, you need to take precautions for this "climb": you have to walk along a very steep corridor with no clear path, and the passage is vertiginous.
(S) From the Refuge des Camporells, go around the lake to the west and head towards Les Peyric. The route is marked with cairns.
At the end of the lake, grassy valleys and flat areas allow you to climb up to the start of the summit ridge
(1) From there, you have to constantly look for a suitable path: choose the rock, which is easier to grip than the earth and small stones, which are less stable.
Exit this couloir, which widens and flattens towards the end, and continue towards the summit of Petit Peric. Continue on to reach the summit of Puig Peric
(2) Descend towards the pass to rejoin the path that plunges into the combe (it is clearly visible from the peak). This section is less steep and does not present any difficulties.
Exit the rocky descent and reach the grassy area, navigating by sight (there are cairns) to reach the Estany de la Llosa.
(3) Continue downhill following the left bank of the Rec de Puig Peric to reach the Cabane de la Calmetta, where you will rejoin theGRP® Tour du Capcir coming from the Refuge des Camporells.
Note: This is the classic route for this tour to reach the two refuges of Camporells and Les Bouillouses.
(4) Turn right onto theGRP® and follow it, ignoring the various junctions, until you reach the junction with theGR®10.
(5) Cross the Têt.
(6) Continue left on this path shared bythe GR® and GRP® trails. Follow the Lac des Bouillouses on its right bank and reach the dam. Cross the dam to reach your chosen lodge (E).
