Chemin Vauban from Mont-Louis to La Llagonne

Car park near the town hall. Before the tunnel, a sign indicates two walking routes.

(S) Go down the steps heading east (take care, the steps are unstable), pass the car park, then walk along the ramparts. Throughout this first section, several information boards provide details about the town’s architecture. At the first junction, turn left, then left again at the next one. Continue along the ramparts until you reach another junction.

(1) Take the path on the right (the one on the left is off-limits – military land) which leads downhill. At the next junction, turn right towards La Llagonne.

(2) Further on, cross the River Têt, then gradually head uphill through a short stretch of woodland until you reach a sign for the Chemin Vauban.

(3) Go round the car park on the right and take the path opposite (unshaded section). Climb gradually, ignoring the side tracks, until you reach another sign for the Chemin Vauban.

(4) Head down towards La Llagonne until you reach the D118 at the entrance to the village.

(5) Take care: this section has no facilities for pedestrians. There appears to be a road on the right running parallel to the D118. Otherwise, follow the road for 150 metres to the right, then turn left at the junction. At the next junction, turn right. At the Y-junction, keep left, then turn right at the next junction to reach Rue de la Poste, the starting point of the La Llagonne–Col de la Quillane section (E).
