Saint-Thois walks

Make your way gently along the the Aulne following the logging trail. Views over the lock keepers’ houses located on the other side. Passage through the Vieux-Bourg and its St-They church, the birthplace of the parish of Lothey until 1846.

After skirting the Odet and the reaching of the old mills, a beautiful loop takes us through the wooded area of Stang Luzigou. On the return journey, pass through the Kerho Arboretum. Discover the Saint-Corentin Chapel in the area known as Kreïker.

This pleasant loop will takeyou through villages rich in architectural heritage, with beautiful granite houses and unmissable sites such as chapels, churches, the Château de Tronjoly, Guiscriff railway station and, of course, the Statue of Liberty in Gourin. It also offers superb panoramic views, particularly along the D187 between Le Saint and Guiscriff.

This route offers you an immersion in an area rich in heritage and varied landscapes, with superb panoramic views of the countryside of the Pays du Roi Morvan. Throughout this magnificent loop, you will pass through villages and hamlets. Don't hesitate to push open the doors of chapels and churches to discover architectural wonders. Among the must-see sights are the famous Statue of Liberty, the park and château of Tronjoly in Gourin, and the exceptional church of La Trinité-Langonnet (completely renovated in 2022). Take a relaxing break at the Pontigou lake. An ideal route for families.

The Odet River first rolls its cool waves through gently rolling hills, wooded countryside and long meadows.Then, suddenly, upstream from Quimper, it carves out a narrow, deep gorge and describes a surprising "hairpin bend" around the Griffonès cliff, creating a wild, winding ravine framed by woods, rocks and moors.It is this discovery that I invite you to explore.

Nestled in a green valley, this commune has all the charm of the mountain countryside, with its sunken lanes, hedgerows, streams and rugged terrain. The name of the commune comes from the name of the parish patron saint, Saint Rivoal, formerly Riwall, the name of a large family that emigrated from Brittany to Great Britain in the 5th and 6th centuries. Saint-Rivoal has been awarded the "Communes du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne" (Communes of Rural Heritage in Brittany) label.

Does the Rivière d'Argent (Silver River), which glitters beneath the canopy of trees, owe its name to its bright sparkle in the twilight, or is it the nuggets that have escaped from the old mine that give it such a luminous appearance? The walk, which follows the mine's supply channel and then the turbulent course of the river, may provide the answer. It appears that the route is no longer passable between points 4 and 6. After wandering through the streets and alleys of Locronan, follow the paths through the bocage to return via the Bois du Névet.

Loop around Ménez-Hom, the last peak of the Montagnes Noires, via a country route on the east side before starting the climb to pass the two peaks of Le Yed (329 m) and Le Hielc'h (298 m). Wide panoramic view of the Aulne valley and its suspension bridge, the bottom of Brest harbour and the entire Bay of Douarnenez. Beautiful vegetation of low-lying heathland and flowering heather from June onwards. You can visit the imposing chapel (if open) and its enclosure with its 1544 calvary.

Via theGR®®34, the wooded coastal path runs alongside the Anses Saint-Laurent and Saint-Jean, opening onto the Baie de La Forêt-Fouesnant and ending at the famous Sables Blancs beach in Concarneau.This part of the circuit changes appearance with the tide.The return journey is via the Roscoff-Concarneau Greenway and then along a country road. Roc'h ar Feunteun, Roc'h Trédudon, Roc'h Trévézel, a line of jagged ridges. In the heart of the Armorique Regional Nature Park, the Monts d'Arrée rise up in a landscape of moors, heather and gorse. These landscapes give off a surprising impression, marked by unreality, mystery and authenticity, which we know well in inland Brittany.

Descend for a circuit around the pond of Moros.Nice view of the manor of Stang-ar-Lin, nicknamed "the Pink Castle". On the way back, visit the grounds of the castle of Kériolt".

From the beach of Cap Coz at Pointe de Beg Meil by the coastal path and via new a development on properties that have encroached into the maritime domain. Discover the semaphore tower and the national dune and then head back by an easier route by small roads and paths that are a little out of the way.

The route offers picturesque and varied landscapes.A magnificent view of the entrance to Concarneau harbour and its walled town, a coastal path dotted with beautiful granite rocks leading to a ria where a perfectly preserved old tide mill surprises us; it's worth stopping here.

After passing the Lestremeur site, with its manor house and dovecote, continue through wooded areas to reach the Étang du Corroac'h. The return journey is via the greenway and then country lanes.

After walking through the countryside, visit the Roman baths at Perennou, which were restored in 2011, then return via the Lestremeur site and along the Combrit cove.

Bénodet, Odet estuary and seaside resort. Follow the estuary and then the beach to reach the tip "Pointe de Bénodet", from where you can see the entire south coast. After passing through the town and its camping areas, return to the marina along "Anse de Penfoul".

With its rich church and parish enclosure, Pencran stretches across the hill south of Landerneau and then plunges down into green rural valleys. The first part of this trail leaves the village and passes through residential neighbourhoods facing Landerneau. It then joins the countryside, following paths through the woods and farm tracks. In addition to the parish enclosure, you will discover the bucolic atmosphere of a tree-lined canalised stream and the surprising Fontaine de la Vierge (Virgin's Fountain), set in a small, well-preserved sanctuary.

After walking along woodland paths to admire the manor "Manoir de Lestremec", we skirt the pond "Etang du Moulin Neuf".A short detour to enjoy the peace and quiet of the chapel "Chapelle de Kelou Mad" before returning along the greenway. The Pont-L'Abbé water tower as a landmark.

This route from north to south of Pont-l'Abbé allows you to discover pieces of the town's history. The Saint-Jacques de Lambour Chapel with its decapitated bell tower is a reminder of the Red Cap Revolt of 1675. The greenway follows a section of the old Transbigouden railway line that linked Pont-L'Abbé to Quimper and operated until 1963 the Château des Barons, built in the 13th and 14th centuries by the Barons of Pont, who became powerful lords, the inhabited bridge and, finally, the 19th-century towpath , built to cope with an increase in traffic and tonnage in the port.

This semi-urban route begins with a visit to the Jardin des Camélias, which has been recently renovated but is little known despite its location in the heart of the town. It continues with a tour of the main monuments of Pont-l'Abbé before heading out into the countryside on the outskirts of Tréméoc and returning to the starting point via a greenway and the banks of the Pont-l'Abbé river.
