Park in the car park at Huelgoat Town Hall.
(S/E) Behind the town hall, take a path that quickly leads to a canal. Cross the canal via a footbridge and turn right. Follow the canal on your right as it winds through a shaded area.
(1) You will come out onto the D769a and follow it to the left for about 150 m. Then leave the road on the right, find the canal and follow it on your right. Wind your way through the national forest along the canal for about 2 km until you reach the spillway of a hydroelectric power station.
(2) Cross the canal on a metal footbridge, then turn left towards a wooden barrier. Go through the barrier and continue until you reach a crossroads in a clearing.
(3) Take thefirst path on the right. At the next intersection (not shown on the 1:25,000 map), turn left. You will arrive at the bottom of a valley (there is a slag heap from the old silver-lead mine, and a museum in the village of Locmaria-Berrien 2 km away).
(4) Turn left, cross a stream and join a gravel road (GR® 37) to reach the Rivière d'Argent 700 m away.
(5) Just after the bridge and before the D769a, take a path on the left (GR®37) that runs alongside the Rivière d'Argent. Stay on this path (still marked in red and white) which runs parallel to the D769a. Return to the banks of the Rivière d'Argent, pass the Mare aux Fées and reach the Gouffre.
(6) Climb a staircase on the right as you leave theGR®, join the D769a and follow it to the left. Shortly afterwards, cross the road carefully towards a car park. Turn left, cross the car park and then turn right onto a path that leads into the forest. At the next crossroads, turn left. You will quickly come to a local road and follow it as it continues to join a forest track. Turn left to come to a local road. Go slightly downhill, rejoin the D769a and follow it to the right until you reach the Arquellen car park.
(7) Then turn right onto a path (Circuit des Chevreuils). Follow a stream below on the left. Cross another stream on a footbridge and immediately turn left towards the Mare aux Sangliers. Leave the pond on your right and cross the stream you followed earlier. At the T-junction that immediately follows, turn left onto a forest track. Follow the stream below on your left and note the presence of a menhir and then the Grotte d'Artus.
(8) Turn right before the D769a and take the Allée Violette near the Pont Rouge. Continue straight ahead until you reach the Ménage de la Vierge.
(9) Then turn right and pass below a restaurant on the left. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the side roads to Roche Tremblante, until you reach the D14.
(10) Cross the D14 and go through the car park opposite. Go around the Champignon clockwise and return to the D14.
(10) Cross the road again and follow the path you took earlier in the opposite direction.
(9) Turn right to go up the Chaos towards the Théâtre de Verdure (ignore the paths on the right). Cross the Rivière d'Argent again and turn right. Take the passage above the Grotte du Diable and arrive at the Moulin du Chaos. Cross a street and follow Rue du Lac opposite. After about 100 metres, take an alley on the left. You will come out at Place Aristide Briand, opposite the Church of Saint-Yves.
(11) Take Venelle du Chai and walk along the church on your left. When you reach a car park, turn left. Join Rue du 5 Août 1944 and follow it to the right to quickly return to the car park where you started (S/E).
