GR®®38markings: White and red +PR®® Yellow markings
(S/E) From the car park near the information sign, take theGR®®38which descends towards the Odet River.
(1) At the footbridge on your right, continue along the wide path that overlooks the river at first, then approaches it and becomes more stony. Continue until you reach a signpost.
GR®® 38 signposting: White and red
(2) At the signpost, leave thePR®® which climbs to the left, continue and reach the wooden footbridge at Meil Poul (water mill) where you leave the GR®®.
PR®® signposting in the opposite direction.
(3) Cross and turn right onto an ascending path. On your right are the ruins of an old mill, hence the name of the place. Follow this steeply ascending path. On your right, you will see low walls that once marked the boundaries of plots of land. Also note a small fountain on the right, shortly after a beautiful granite trough, then another fountain and an old wash house. Pass through a wooded area of holly and arrive at the edge of the woods on the plateau.
(4) At the signpost, turn left and walk 300 m to reach the viewpoint. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead for a few metres to reach the Griffonès spur, which overlooks the river 80 m below. Be careful: there are no safety barriers. Turn around and take the first path on the left into the woods, which descends steeply and joins a wide carriageway.
(5) Go up this wide lane on the right.
GR®®38signposting: white and red
(6) At the signpost marked "passerelle de Tréouzon", turn left and rejoin the GR®®. Follow this zigzagging path, which continues westward along a path lined with moss-covered stone embankments. Continue along this path, which may be muddy in winter, until you reach an intersection. Turn right to find the riverbank and arrive at a new, larger footbridge.
(7) Leave it on your right and continue along the left bank. The river makes a wide bend.
Continue along this path, which is strewn with large stones in places, until you reach the Meil Poul footbridge you crossed earlier.
(3) Cross this footbridge and turn right near the information sign.
No signposts
Go back up the river on the right bank, keeping it on your right. At the next signpost, ignore the path going up to the left and keep going until you reach the big footbridge you already passed and go past it.
PR®® Yellow markings in the opposite direction.
(8) Leave the river and turn left, pass a pumping station and follow this path lined with a stream on your right.
(9) Before reaching an information sign, cross to the left and climb a few steps to enter the woods. Follow this south-east-facing path that winds through the upper part of the woods. At a crossroads, ignore the path on your left that descends to the Lavoir des Chevreuils (50 m below) and continue along this path, which offers views of the river flowing at the bottom of the valley. Just as you leave the woods, you will see a spring on your right feeding the Lavoir du Châtaignier.
(10) Leave the hamlet of Tréouzon on your right and turn left at the edge of the fields, heading south-east. At the marker, ignore the path that descends to the left and a little further on, at the three-way junction, follow the left-hand path that descends to the Lavoir des Canards. Continue up a log staircase to rejoin the path you left earlier. Follow this well-marked path which winds its way up through the trees and reaches a low stone wall. Walk along this wall on your right, then go through the opening and turn immediately left. You will reach an open area where you will find, on your left, a second viewpoint facing Griffonnées on the other side of the valley: be careful, there is no protection.
With your back to the viewpoint, continue to reach a wider path.
(11) Follow this path and ignore a path on the right that leads to a picnic table and then, a few metres further on, another on the left that descends towards the river. Continue to the right towards the Stancou car park.
(12) After a large area on the right with wooden tables and before the car park, turn left to reach a new secure viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the valley in a north-south direction. Retrace your steps and take the steps on the left that lead back up to the car park. Follow the road that leads to the car park and leave the road to enter the woods on the left.
(13) Follow this path through the upper part of the woods. This is the most rugged part of the circuit. After an arch-shaped tree overlooking the path, ignore the path that continues straight ahead and descend to the left towards a new wash house. You can clearly hear the sound of the river flowing below.
A signpost indicates that the circuit is closed during the hunting season from September to March, except on Tuesdays and Fridays. The circuit is also closed on Saturdays when there is a battue (once a month). See the alternative route in the "Practical information" section.
Continue along this path, pass a millstone and continue across several rocky outcrops, alternating between several successive ascents and descents. The path winds around the slope. Pass two information boards about the hunting society. Continue straight ahead as you leave the woods and, at the road, turn left to descend to the car park (S/E).
