Saint-André-de-la-Roche walks

Embark on a walk that will take you through picturesque valleys between Saint-André-de-la-Roche and Falicon. This 5 km hike invites you to discover varied landscapes, magnificent views and hidden treasures along the way.

Pleasant wooded walk to the west of Saint-André-De-La-Roche. In just a few minutes, you leave the urbanisation of Nice behind for Provençal vegetation of olive trees, fig trees, pines, oaks and cypresses. Beautiful views of the village of Falicon.

Located a few kilometres from the coast, this pleasant walk along paved slanting street takes you to Mont Revel, which rises to an altitude of 373 metres. This historic site, which belongs to the municipality of Tourrette-Levens, is known for housing, among other things, the ruins of a square tower and the remains of a postern gate with a loophole, known as the Château des Barbets or Château des Voleurs.

Following theGR®5, a hike that leads to the Falicon Pyramid, then up the slopes above to enjoy the view of Nice, the sea and the snow-capped mountains to the north. Moderator's warning on 10/05/2021: Please note that parking is no longer available at the start of this hike. See reviews.

Hike near Nice from Colle de Revel, or Château des Voleurs, to Mont de l'Ubac at an altitude of 651 metres, passing through the hamlet of Camp Soubran and Baisse de Bordinas. This circular hike offers beautiful views of Mont Chauve, Tourette Levens, the Mercantour mountains, Mont Agel and Nice, and takes place on varied terrain.

This walk on the hill of Gairaut will take you through this former rural district, now populated by beautiful villas surrounded by olive trees, with breathtaking views of the city of Nice and the sea. After a round trip along the Gairaut canal, which has its source in the Vésubie, you will descend towards Avenue de Gairaut before climbing back up to the Church of Saint-Sauveur-de-Gairaut and the Gairaut waterfall, topped by the former caretaker's house in traditional Russian wooden style.

This third stage of the tour of the hills of Nice starts at the Saint-Charles tram stop on line 1 and climbs through the Saint-Charles district on the western flank of Mont Vinaigrier. From Mont Vinaigrier, it descends due south to the Col de Villefranche before climbing back up to Mont Alban and, after a loop around the Fort de Mont Boron, descends again to the port of Nice and finally reaches the Place Garibaldi tram stop via the Port district. The walk follows a beautiful ridge line and is certainly the most ‘natural’ stage of the Tour des Collines de Nice. The views over the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat are magnificent.

This pleasant route starts in Nice Nord and takes you to Mont Chauve d'Aspremont via theGR® hillside trail. It offers panoramic views of the Nice metropolitan area and the sea, as well as the Var plain and the first peaks of the Mercantour. It is marked by the ruins of Château Renard, the Falicon Cave and the Fort du Mont Chauve. This route is accessible to most people despite the very stony and slippery paths in wet weather.

This short hike in the hills near Nice will take you to the foot of Mont Chauve d'Aspremont for a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea, Nice and its surroundings. Ideal for a short trail run... or for walking the dogs (there are many in this area).

Starting from the Levens road, this route allows you to discover and climb the two mountains via the little-known wooded eastern trails overlooking Tourrette-Levens and its castle. The very pleasant return trail, which is completely deserted, offers a unique panorama of Nice, Cannes and Théoule. Only the pass and the area around the Mont Chauve d'Aspremont fort are frequented by the public.

A truly delightful walk, mostly in the shade or along very quiet roads. It offers a wide variety of landscapes – from heathland to woodland – and provides views over the various valleys and villages.

Starting from the Route d'Aspremont and directly accessible by public transport from Nice-Nord, this short hike on the slopes of Mont-Chauve will take you to Crête de Grauss and the ruins of Château Renard for a panoramic view of the hills of Nice and the Baie des Anges.

This walk is a variation on the second stage of the four-stage tour of the hills of Nice. It allows you to shorten this second stage slightly and admire the Jardin des Arènes de Cimiez and the Monastery of Cimiez. Starting from the Comte de Falicon tram stop, you first walk along the Place de la Fontaine du Temple and cross the Maurice Mouchan Garden and the new Parc du Ray. After crossing Avenue du Ray, you reach Parc Chambrun from the south and, via the Saint-Maurice district, the Vieux Chemin de Gairaut and theGRP® Les Collines de Nice, which climb northwards. Much of the walk then follows the Canal de Gairaut eastwards and descends due south towards Nice through the Quatre Chemins district. Finally, you cross the Jardin des Arènes to reach the Monastery of Cimiez and head down to the Pasteur University Hospital to catch the tram either at Pasteur or Saint-Charles.

Starting from the Saint-Roch district, this peri-urban hike will take you to the Mont Vinaigrier site, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral and managed by the Alpes-Maritimes Department. This former agricultural estate features a beautiful olive grove overlooked by a cliff and a plateau offering magnificent views over Villefranche harbour and the Baie des Anges.

This largely shaded circular route, starting from Gheirart (or Gueirar on the IGN map), will take you along the eastern flank of Mont Chauve de Tourette, above La Condamine, and offer views of most of the major peaks of the Mercantour and the villages of the Nice hinterland. The use of a GPS or the Visorando app is recommended.

This hike, starting from the Col des Quatre Chemins, will take you along a cliffside trail above the Paillon Valley to the Plateau de la Justice. After a panoramic section via Mont Fourche and Mont Leuze, you will descend towards the Grande Corniche to return to the starting point.

This walk through the Libération, Saint-Barthélémy and Saint-Étienne districts of Nice will take you to five churches: the Church of Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc, the Church of Saint-Barthélémy and its cemetery, the Church of Saint-Paul, the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint-Nicolas de Nice and finally the Church of Saint-Étienne. But you can also admire the city from the hill of Pessicart and the Palais Le Righi. Finally, you will pass several times over or near the Train des Pignes railway line, which connects Nice to Digne, from the Gare des Chemins de Fer de Provence railway station.

This is the first stage of the Nice hills tour. This semi-urban hike starts at the Libération tram stop in the heart of Nice. It runs alongside the Gare du Sud railway station and then the Chemins de Fer de Provence railway station and railway line with its blue trains. After crossing the Mantega district, below the Palais du Righi, the hike climbs up a somewhat forgotten path on Pessicart hill. After circling Pessicart hill to admire the greenhouses and the Baou de Saint-Jeannet, the hike descends back to Nice. It then crosses the La Clua municipal nature park and passes by the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi in the Saint-Sylvestre neighbourhood, finally arriving at the Comte de Falicon tram stop.

This short circular hike starting from Plateau Saint-Michel will take you along paths overlooking Cap Ferrat and the Mediterranean. Despite the very modest distance, do not underestimate the difficulty of this hike on slippery and stony paths. Please note that the proposed route crosses a road, the Moyenne Corniche (RM 6007). This is a dangerous passage that must be taken with the utmost caution.

Starting from Old Nice, this circuit allows you to discover Mont Boron, known for its many panoramic views of the city, the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat. The return trip along the coastal path is charming and, depending on the season, you can even go for a swim.

This circular loop takes you from Place Garibaldi to Fort du Mont Boron via Parc du Castel des Deux Rois and Chemin du Fort Thaon, then back along the coast via Cap de Nice, Sentier du Littoral and Port de Nice. You can go for a swim before returning to Place Garibaldi to catch the tram.

This walk takes you along the entire length of the promenade in Nice, between the harbour and Parc Phoenix next to the airport. You will also explore Castle Hill Park (Parc de la Colline du Château), a 19 hectare maze of greenery perched high up above Nice old town, with many areas to be discovered including an impressive waterfall.

A hike in a wild and uncrowded area, yet very close to Nice. You will discover the Plateau Tercier with its panoramic view of the Paillons valleys, the Mercantour and the heights of Nice, as well as a small ruined castle colonised by vegetation: the Castello de Soanès.

A semi-urban walk that is challenging in terms of distance but with no significant elevation gain. Explore the coastline of Cap de Nice, the Rade de Villefranche and the full circuit of Cap Ferrat via Pointe Sainte-Hospice, with views of Beaulieu Bay and the village of Èze. This walk is best undertaken in autumn or winter to avoid the heat.

A beautiful semi-urban route that can be enjoyed all year round, linking the magnificent Moscow-inspired Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Nicholas to the wooded Parc Estienne d'Orves, a 15-hectare green oasis in the heart of Nice.

A tour of the hills and forts of Mont Alban and Mont Boron, offering varied and interesting views of the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice and the Baie des Anges. This circular route takes you through Old Nice to Monts Alban and Boron. It ends with a walk along the seafront.

An easy and refreshing hike just a few minutes from Nice, offering unusual views of the coastline and overlooking the bay of Villefranche and Beaulieu. This hike, which can be started from various points along the route, will take you through the Mont-Boron massif, passing by Fort du Mont-Alban, the residential neighbourhoods of Villefranche and the coastal path from the Villefranche-sur-Mer dock to the port of Nice, via Pointe des Sans-Culottes and Cap de Nice. This hike through urban, forest and coastal environments will give your calves a good workout thanks to the numerous staircases!

This semi-urban walk offers views of numerous villas as you pass through the Piol neighbourhood, then climb the right-hand slope of the Vallon des Sablières up to the church of Saint-Pierre de Féric. You can admire views of Nice and the Sablières and Sabatiers valleys as you walk around the Conque. From the Church of Saint-Pierre de Féric, the route descends the left-hand slope of the Sabatiers valley, above La Madeleine, before finally crossing the Parc d’Estienne d’Orves at Saint-Philippe.

A few kilometres from Nice, Mont Chauve d'Aspremont and its close neighbour Mont Chauve de Tourette offer magnificent views to the south: Nice, the Baie des Anges and the Mediterranean, but also to the north with the Alps and the Mercantour.

Starting from the charming village of Aspremont, this short but challenging round trip hike takes you up to Vieil Aspremont, the ruins of the old village abandoned in 1426.
