Start at the Emmaüs car park, located at 158 Chemin des Arnaud in Saint-André-de-la-Roche (06730).
(S/E) From this car park, follow the tarmac road known as the Chemin des Arnaud for about 50 metres and take the Valliera path on your right (marker 132). Continue along this path until you reach the tarmac road.
At this point, keep well to the right on this path to reach the upper tarmac bend. Continue along the tarmac road to the next hairpin bend. Watch out for traffic on this stretch.
(1) At the hairpin bend, continue towards the dead-end road known as the Vieux Chemin de la Colle.
The road runs alongside the house. Carry on straight ahead, north-west.
(2) At the edge of the forest, take the path on the right, continue and turn left at marker 127 onto rural track no. 15 in La Colle. Follow this path until you reach the tarmac road known as the Sentier de la Vallière.
Turn left onto this road and follow it for about 40 metres. At thefirst bend, take the stairway path on the right which climbs and winds its way between the houses.
(3) Join the Route de la Colle de Revel (unnumbered marker, wooden sign marked ‘Saint-André’). Carry on straight ahead, due north along this road, until you reach number 423.
(4) Leave the road by turning left onto this track. After 70 metres, you’ll reach the wire mesh marking the edge of the quarry. Turn right here; the path runs alongside a wire fence on the left and private properties on the right. 50 metres past the high-voltage power line, the path curves slightly to the right; 20 metres further on, a cairn on the left marks the path leading up to the cliff (before the stone wall).
Continue along the path which runs alongside the cliff, winding its way between boulders, until the castle ruins come into view above you (this beautiful site also features a number of climbing routes).
From climbing route no. 6, walk due east. Make your way down to the road below through the field (see photo), which features terraced fields (invisible from the foot of the cliff). Once on the road, head right to the crossroads and the Relais du Château.
(5) Continue straight on along the tarmac road of the Colle de Revel as it descends.
(3) At the wooden signpost for Saint André, turn right onto the dead-end track. Return via the same route to the Emmaüs car park (S/E).
