Roullens walks

A 15-minute drive from Carcassonne, the village of Roullens, perched on a hill, overlooks a stunning landscape, a small part of which you can enjoy.

A pleasant route through very hilly terrain. Fields, vineyards and forests alternate throughout the walk.

In a hilly landscape, this is a beautiful, shaded hike with wildlife in Mediterranean woods composed of holm oaks, pines and heather from the Malpère massif, which means "bad stone". A small circular village on a hilltop in a peaceful, green setting.

Part of a larger 13km circular, this fairly easy walk allows you to discover two ancient villages and breathe in the tranquillity of the banks of the Canal du Midi.

In the heart of Limouxin, the small village of Cépie offers magnificent views over the Aude valley during this hike.

Once you've conquered the first kilometre, this hike offers superb panoramic views. The path along the ridge allows you to discover beautiful holm oaks, white heather, cotton cistus and many other plants.

From the medieval city, which you can visit before or after the walk, it is worth going to the top of Pech Mary to enjoy a 360° panorama of the city and its surroundings, as well as a bird's eye view of the city, particularly Porte Narbonnaise.

Legend has it that a beautiful noblewoman from Pennautier would dress up as a wolf at night to meet her lovers along these paths. A lovely walk that follows the Fresquel and continues through fields and vineyards in the countryside west of Carcassonne.

Lake Cavayère is the place to visit in Carcassonne when the sun is out. The path around the lake is laid out clearly and is very easy to follow even with children (over ten years). The ever present lake provides a very pleasant setting.

Half of the hike is under the trees and half is in the heath.

A beautiful hike, steep at first, which quickly runs along the top of the valley, with a bird's eye view of the village and the surrounding hills. You will then go deeper and deeper into the forest.

This amazing circular takes you through Mediterranean heath and the Blanquette de Limoux vineyards. Starting from the village of Saint-Polycarpe with the remains of its 8th-century Benedictine abbey, the route crosses the communal forest and the village of Villar-Saint-Anselme. At the end of the route, there is an arboretum sponsored by Yves Duteil. The trail is marked with yellow lines and circles.

Walk in full sun. Don't forget your hat and water. Avoid when it has rained the previous week as the vineyard soil is very clayey and remains sticky for a long time. Very beautiful views of the village of Aragon.

Take a walk or bike ride along the Canal du Midi, passing through the river port of Trèbes to the Château de Bouilhonnac.

A very pretty walk north of the village of Aragon, allowing you to discover the drystone shelter housing estate with its dry stone walls, its hillside planted with pine trees and the plateau with its drystone shelters, stone walls and panoramic views. The route is very well signposted and the information boards are very interesting.

A short walk in the Limoux region through the valleys of its vineyards with beautiful panoramic views. A pretty circular village to visit, with magnificent buildings and a rich history.

On 300 hectares, an association in Conques-sur-Orbiel has restored a large number of drystone shelters, which were once used to shelter farmers when they worked on this inhospitable land. The rocks dug up during the work were used to build these shelters. You will come across around thirty of these drystone shelters.

This is a beautiful walk, but it is exposed to the wind and sun. The first kilometre is quite steep, but the next two kilometres are gentler. Rough wooden signs engraved with "Circuit Saint-Roch" will guide you along the way, even if they are not very visible or legible... Since 15 October 2018 and the floods, a lot of earth has been washed away from the paths and many of them have become very stony and rocky. However, the circuit remains entirely feasible.

A ten-kilometre hike that winds through forests and fields. There are some beautiful properties to see, and above all, the village of Montolieu is worth a visit.

The tour of the photovoltaic park offers an almost 360° panorama. From Salsigne to Villeneuve via Villanière and its mine shaft, Limousis, Sallèles-Cabardès and Marmonières.
