Park at the Georges Pompidou roundabout, where parking is available.
(S/E) Take the road downhill between a sports centre on the right and a small supermarket on the left. After a few metres, the road turns left.
When you reach the CFPR (Centre de Formation Professionnelle de la Route), take the vineyard path on the right. Cross the edge of the field and continue to the left along a track that joins a wider path.
At the end of this track, turn right, cross the bridge over the Fresquel and arrive at a monumental gate with the inscription ‘Château d’Auzas’ on the pediment.
Enter the property either through the gate if it is open, or by going round the left-hand side of the gate (this is tolerated by the owners for pedestrians). Walk for about thirty metres.
(1) Turn right along the edge of the vineyard to follow the course of the Fresquel. Reach the edge of the field.
(2) Turn left and walk along the edge of the field. After a zigzag at the end of the field, continue due north until you reach a junction. Turn right, walk along the edge of another field, then make a right-left zigzag to come out onto a farm track.
(3) Take the farm track on the left, pass a derelict wind turbine and follow the boundary wall of Rivals Castle. Turn left, pass the castle and come out onto the road.
(4) Turn left onto the road and follow it. Cross the bridge over the Ruisseau de la Dussaude. You’ll immediately come to a crossroads of footpaths.
(5) Enter the field on the left, taking care not to damage the crops by sticking to the edges, and make your way to the track opposite.
(6) Turn right, then keep right at the next junction to reach the crossroads at the Paret Longue estate.
(7) Turn left onto the wide track leading to this estate. Return to the original junction.
(1) Leave the property in the same way as you entered. Follow the original route back to the starting car park (S/E).
