Park in the small car park on the edge of the D43, about 50 metres from the intersection with Rue de la Mairie. 50 metres away, at the electricity substation, you will find a sign describing the walks and the history of the village
(S/E). Head north and follow the Malepère road (D43) for about 650 metres.
(1) Turn right towards the Touloury estate. At the junction, continue straight ahead on the dirt track, leaving the estate on your right, until you reach the D36. Follow the road to the right with caution until you reach the Boulbonne estate.
(2) Enter the estate by turning 180° to the left, passing between a shed and a house, and heading up towards the woods along a narrow path. Join a wider path at the edge of the woods.
(3) Turn right onto the path and you will reach a large crossroads just after passing a path on your right.
(4) Continue straight ahead on the path climbing up the ridge and running alongside the D43 below on your left.
(5) Cross the D43 and follow the path opposite into the woods, towards the Dego estate. Do not continue to the estate, but turn left towards La Soulette. Pass an old tractor wreck and, about 100 metres after passing the access road to the La Soulette estate, take a narrow path on the left down into the woods, passing a ruin.
(6) Turn left at the wooden barrier and descend towards the Bessou stream. Cross the stream and follow the path uphill to reach the top of the ridge.
(7) Turn right towards the Bedounet estate and continue along the path below the estate. Pass a small pond on your left and walk alongside a power line and vineyards.
(8) Turn left onto the tarmac road, descending towards the pumping station, then climb back up towards the village. Once you reach the D43, turn right to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
Departure from the pretty village of Montclar. A very pleasant, varied and undulating route of around ten kilometres, with enjoyable stretches along wooded paths and expansive landscapes of hills, fields and woods in places. Some sections are on very quiet roads. Completed between 9am and noon, taking time for a few breaks, photos and drinks.
