Romain walks

A walk that takes you on a journey through time, from the caves and wild landscapes of the Neanderthal era to the wind turbines of modern man. Some sections of the route are off-trail and difficult when vegetation is at its thickest (access to the Grotte de la Pucelle, in particular, from the corner of Cut IX). Avoid wearing shorts!

A day-long walk offering the chance to see various types of karst sinkholes, visit Montby Castle and walk through fields of daffodils if the walk takes place in early March.

A beautiful loop starting from the town hall in Cognières, combining nature, heritage and tranquillity. The route passes through Montagney and runs alongside the Ognon river before climbing gently towards the woods and the Saint-Hilaire chapel, then the Montaucivey chapel, offering superb unobstructed views of the countryside. Pass through Rougemont and its national necropolis. Between typical villages, forests and rural paths, ponds and rivers, this walk offers a beautiful variety of landscapes and a rich heritage to discover, in a calm and bucolic atmosphere.

Set off on a lovely circular walk through woods and fields, offering superb panoramic views. Accessible on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback, this walk with gentle gradients is suitable for everyone. The route begins at the Cognières viaduct, before passing through Bouhans, its woods and vast fields. You’ll then reach the Dampierre Forest, leading to the village of Trevey, where the pond is a lovely spot for a break. The return route takes you past the Cognières memorial stone, on the edge of the forest and fields, providing a lovely end to the walk. A varied walk, perfect for enjoying nature and recharging your batteries.

La Goutte d'Eau Trail: a family-friendly route to explore the character town of Montbozon and the nearby village of Thiénans, with a magnificent viewpoint over the Ognon Valley. Trail listed in the PDIPR. Places to visit: the fortified house of Montbozon (also known as the Maison Bouday), and the Cygne fountain, a listed Historic Monument.

La Goutte d’Eau Trail: a family-friendly route to explore the ‘cité de caractère’ of Montbozon and the neighbouring village of Thiénans, with a magnificent viewpoint over the Ognon Valley. The trail is listed in the PDIPR.

A pleasant circular loop through the forest, suitable for walking, mountain biking or horse riding, with no significant elevation gain. The route is unmarked; follow the map and description, as the vegetation may vary depending on the season. As this is a forest walk, please wear suitable footwear.

A walk through the woods on the hills above Baume-les-Dames, reaching a height of 560 metres at Mont Dommage.

This route follows the ridges above the village and descends towards La Lavaine. Enjoy several viewpoints over the Doubs valley and a section along the banks of the Doubs via Eurovélo 6.

A short post-lunch walk for the whole family along the Doubs and on the heights of Baumes-les-Dames.

The hike at Baume-les-Dames undoubtedly offers the most beautiful view of the Doubs valley "canyon". From the Chassignole viewpoint, you can see the Doubs river winding its way through the valley.

The “Croix de Châtard” walk is by far the number one in the top five walks in Baume-les-Dames. If you only have time for one hike during your visit, this is definitely the one to do. Accessible and of moderate difficulty, it offers superb views over Baume-les-Dames and the Doubs valley.

This hike offers beautiful panoramic views of the Doubs river loops. The route passes through the picturesque site of the Cuves de Bléfond.

A hike to discover the plateaus from the ridges overlooking the Doubs.

Hike through the mirabelle plum orchards and follow in the footsteps of iron mining.

You will walk in the footsteps of Xavier Bourqueney, the Lomont hunter who survived the ferocious charge of a wounded boar and, in gratitude for his life being spared, built the Sainte-Anne Chapel, which overlooks Crosey-le-Grand and the Comté countryside, which has probably hardly changed since the end of the 17th century. Then, in two strides, you will find yourself in the midst of modernity, at the foot of impressive wind turbines. A sunny country walk.
